Has anyone rebuilt a T618z yet?

Now since the Greddy kit has been out for 2 years, I'm asking who has done a inspection/rebuild on the turbo.

I'm after the following info:

Were the Turbo fixes done
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/definitive-greddy-turbo-fixes-here-they-81825/

How much boost run?
hi-flo cat installed?
How many miles before an inspection?
Any end play, side to side play? How much?

How many miles before a rebuild?
What needed to be replaced other than the bearings, thrust plate.
Any cracks in the turbine housing? Where?

Thats all I can think of. I know I missed something.

my turbo was rebuilt by mazsport.

The turbo seals went. All the greddy fixes in place, but no oil restrictor.

i had to get one rebuilt. homeboy put 9+ qts of oil in his car and blew out the seals because it wouldn't drain.

another one i had rebuilt even though it didn't need it. got a bigger compressor and clipped the turbine. so while it was apart...might as well spend the $20 on bearings and a new turbine seal just for shits n' giggles.

i haven't personally seen one fail without being abused though.

mine failed after three months, needed an oil restrictor i think. no abuse on my part here.

We have been rebuilding and upgrading them for some time now. We just removed a consumer installed unit this morning that was run for about 3 hours and had oil dripping out of the downpipe. When the car arrived I installed a restrictor, cleaned out the exhaust and ran it for about an hour, still dripping. Scott

Thanks for the info guys.

The question was really aimed at how durable the greddy turbo was.
I know that some of the people on the forum have done the suggested fixes to make the greddy kit better. And some have not.

I really wanted to get a comparison between the two types of users and their experiences with the kit.

I know that Scott has rebuilt these and offers a "upgrade" option and this is a good thing.

What really impacts a turbos life? I know heat, lubrication, sudden pressure surges all cause wear.
Does anyone see a trend at many mi. the turbo starts to fail at?

Thanks

Mines still run fine, with no restrictor had it for about 4 months now. I figure when it goes out I will just send it down to mazpsport to get it upgraded thats I why I haven't really gone through the trouble of putting in a restrictor yet.
