greddy turbo install???
i live in huntsville, alabama. i cant find anybody to install my greddy turbo kit. i posted this in the SE forum, but nobody replied, so im asking everyone. would the mazda dealership install it for me? if not, who can? i will drive to florida, georgia, tennessee, and mississippi to get it installed, but no further. please tell me the name of the company and their location, and a rough estimate of how much the installation will cost.
thanks. |
Mazda dealor ship might, BUT they don't have much, if any, experience with putting a turbo on a rotary engine. Even though the rx7 has been out, many workers have only been there for a few years (at least at mine).
Go to a rotary specialist for best tune. A yahoo search came up with http://www.sasracing.com/ which is located in your state. Also, pettit racing is very good and located in florida, but I'm not sure if they are near you or more south. EDIT: Oh, if you decide you might go to the SAS Racing, I'd do a search in an rx7 forum to see if they get the job done right. |
awesome, thanks for the info. i'll check that out.

Get it sent to dalllas, there are a few shops here that are more than capable of doing the install.
Sh*t... i'll do it. Its really not that hard. -hS |

fiendish mother f**ker sons of a bitches!!!!!
sorry, i had to pull one off a car today. DAMN, my knuckles hurt :p: |
mazsport (plenty of experience with the greddy kit...they did, after all develop their own engine management system for the rx-8) is in largo, fl. the install will take about a week and run you about $1000. 727-530-9960.
..if you want it done right, go there or do your research and find a place local you think you can trust. be wary of places that say they'll do it for very cheap. anyone can read an instruction manual, but if they can't read between the lines your engine will blow soon thereafter. |
looking at everyones complaints and boost problems with the greedy turbo, i wouldn't even bother installing it without clipping the turbine. it spools almost too fast as it is and runs out of juice up top.
|
it does spool up too fast...if you get above 3,000 rpm at part throttle, the slightest increase in throttle results in lots of boost. fun at first, but it can make driving in traffic a pain
|
greedy just fucked up.
7* clips for all! |
There's got to be a local performance shop that can do it for you. Take the instructions over and see what they'll charge. The going rate for install is around $1000.
If you have friends that are mechanically inclined with jackstands and lots of tools, check out the Do-It-Yourself thread. But yeah, take your time. Some of those bolts are hard to reach and can tear up your hand pretty good.

In CT
I recently bought a turbo kit from greddy for my rx8. the problem is that no one not even the dealerships up here will put it on now i am looking out of state to have my car worked on for a turbo kit.
|
^^There are no local mechanics AT ALL that can install?
P.S. Reviving 6 year old thread FTL, yo. |
What part of Ct are you in? You can try Swift Motorsports in Norwich because they have installed this kit before or you can just search on the forum and read the multiple threads and do the install yourself.
|
Then you'll have to find a tuner.
