Greddy Coldside ... making it flow better

I am sure you guys are well aware of the horrendous 90 degree bend on the outlet of the Greddy turbo....

I am thinking of solving it in the following way:

Using this compressor housing:

And a smooth bend afterwards to get this result:

obviously outlet pipe has to be modified somewhat ... but you get the idea

Thoughts?

The motor mount bracket may prove to be an issue....

Mine is ported and matched to the gasket and turbo by Shadycrew31 porting service :)

After:

Pipe:

The inter-cooler feed pipe that bolts to my upgraded turbo with the larger billet wheel is also matched and ported out but I can't find pics of that right now.

The exhaust side is also matched and the gasket was also ground out to fit perfectly.

that looks awesome ... however, that does not solve the 90 degree bend issue ... which is right on the outside of the turbo, when the air is at highest velocity

Nope, but from the stuff I read is that it creates something called a volute which helps to accelerate the air somehow or increase the pressure. I don't quite understand it, maybe someone with some technical expertise can explain it better.

Yes, I would like to hear that explanation as well ... it seems like it is a huge flow restriction

from a quick search it seems like a volute is a turbo style pump

our waterpump is a volute pump as well

google images that show up for Volute

Had an argument with mm about this a yr or two back . I agree with stink on this one - the design is bad and it does not work as a volute at all . Once again though ... it will only become an issue when pushing the limits of the kit . For normal greddy kit whp ... it's fine .

Just got off the phone with BNR, he said its not really worth it ... if I can source this for cheap, I will try
