Now I may be wrong here...but is it just me at 24 degee's C it's adding 41% fuel to start isn't that a bit extreme? I think I'd start there...go to the two maps it's going to between and just start cranking it over and keep lowering them down like 5 hits at a time and see if it gets any better or starts. If you smell a shit load of gas I'd start with like 20 off of those numbers.. I may be wrong but that just looks extremely rich to me. Heck I just realized it has 2% on the 82 map and my runs between that map and the 68 map.. My 82 is at 0% and my 68 might have 2% on it.

Oh and try this look at your output screen.. I'll look tomorrow when I start my car.. But I idle at 2.14 - 2.19 ms and I'm going to guess cold start might be like 4 or 5 ms. When cranking it over look at your ms. you have bigger injectors then me so your ms is going to be lower then mine.

Oh and as far as timing maps and stuff. I just got done posting on the my page about this stuff.
Page 11 has MM timing maps and page 12 has my current maps before I changed them..I as well am running rich and haven't been tuned yet. But I do tune tomorrow which is when I'll have my new maps posted later that day. But something to look at https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/turbo-backpressure-rx8s-174676/page11/

notice on this page...my car is up to temp but notice my crank...or starting ms is 5.29 and your's is 12.14 your dumping more then double the fuel I'm putting in. https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...9&d=1244877116

I had a little bit of time to tinker around with the car. Nothin crazy thought i twas a busy weekend. But in the process of pulling plugs, i noticed that the plugs in the rear rotor were extremely black and sooty. (they were new plugs, i replaced the at the start of having the no start issue) The ones in the front rotor looked good.

A firend of mine (who did not know about the plugs yet) suggested a faulty injector. Still not sure and plan to look into it if i can have time to work on the car and it stops raining.

I did a little searching and could not really find anything about how many ms anyone else is running when they are cranking. However, on the RX7 boards i found where they are idleing at 3.XX or so and thier crank is aroun 12.XX like mine. But i do agree that that is ALOT more then you have on your crank map. I may try removing some and see if that helps but i do no think that this is my issue. If it were the tuning on the INT-X then it would fire up every time on the stock ECU. It does start on the stock ECU yes, but sometimes you have to work at it to do so. I am thinking its somthing mechanical.

Phish806 06-16-2009 06:43 PM

Well we did a compression test and there is low compression on two faces of the front rotor. Not really sure what caused this because i was no where near boost when this happened. My take on it is, is that when ithe INT-X went it took the motor with it.

Kane 06-16-2009 06:46 PM

Apex Seal eh.... you never boosted it ever?

05rex8 06-17-2009 05:57 PM

wow this actual kit took out 2 motors within a matter of months :(

05rex8 06-17-2009 08:41 PM

are you gonna keep the kit and try again?

Phish806 06-17-2009 09:33 PM

Plan is to rebuild my motor most likely. There are a couple other things in the air but to answer your question. Yes, Rebuild and this kit will be in the future. Some other modifications to the kit and the car will happen first before it goes back on though.

05rex8 06-17-2009 09:59 PM

good idea, gl man

the joys of FI, eh? :)

Phish806 06-17-2009 10:11 PM

Yup, but i knda feel like i have to stay with it. can not be puttin all this money into a car and have it be back to stock. Hopefully after the rebuild it will be a little more solid and i will have no worries. I think the fact that it was a somewhat high mileage motor was definately not in my favor.

However, i am also curious that if the INT-X did not fry what would have happend with the car and the kit.

05rex8 06-17-2009 10:19 PM

how many miles were on it?

chickenwafer 06-18-2009 02:13 AM

Damn sucks man. This is a case when I'm not happy I was right.

You can rebuild yourself for a good price if you can handle it. A lot of fun, too. I'm gearing up to do my own LOL

Either the timing was completely bad with the map or yeah, when then Int-X ate itself your motor lost timing and fuel and that can be bad depending on what load you're at.

Phish806 06-18-2009 07:10 AM

Off of the top of my head i think my 8 has around 75000. Yeah when it first happend i imediately thought compression, but i let alot of peopel convince me otherwise. Atleast now i know and it give me a chance to clean up a lot of little things in my engine bay and with my car that i have been wanting to do in a long time. Also gives me a chance to change a thing or two about the turbo setup.

The rebuild will be done by me and a friend. He has rebuild two FD motors so we should be ok as far as doing a renesis. I think i have learned my lesson though. get the thing put together get some break in miles on it and get a tune quick like before taking it anywhere un neccesary.

Hopefully after the rebuild it will be alot stronger and i will have nothing to really worry about.

Mawnee 06-18-2009 09:09 AM

Doh, sorry to hear about your engine. Hopefully the rebuild goes well and you are back up and running soon.

Phish806 06-18-2009 09:25 AM

Yep, now its more of getting some money together for all of the parts and gaskets and seals.

i plan on sending my exhaust manifold back to esmeril to have them modify it for the new lower profile wastegate. Also thinking of running htier new apex seals along with Re-routing some coolant lines away from the downpipe. Get some LS coils and have them relocated and moved. Mainly jsut some housekeeping things. I guess i even get to decide what color i want my housings painted lol.
