Esmeril Racing Ultimate Renesis Build.

Hello, just wanted to give you guys a peek at what has been happening at Esmeril Racing over the winter.

First I want to clear up a few things:

- This is not for sale.
- This is not an upgrade to the existing kit that we are offering for sale.
- The purpose is not to reach 1 million HP but to run at 450-500whp very reliably with a really good power band...the setup can support 700whp.
- This is not for sale.
- Did I mention this is not for sale? :)

The engine has our new Apex seals, has been ported and dowel pinned by us. It has a fabricated aluminum intake manifold with a calculated plenum volume, a water to air intercooler system which has about 50% of the volume of the original FMIC setup to help reduce lag and compensate for the huge turbo. The turbo is a Precision Turbo PT71GTQ with a .96A/R (funny how it boosts by 4000-4500rpm :)) and the exhaust is a completely fabricated 4" full from the down pipe back. We built a one-off 3 into 1 exhaust manifold for this (the manifold included in the kit was designed to peak flow at about 420whp)

It is running on E-85 using dual Bosch -044 fuel pumps with an Aeromotive FPR and a 1/2" feed line from the pumps to the front using the stock fuel line as a return. It has 720cc primaries, 1680cc secondaries and 1000cc primary 2's in KGparts fuel rails with -6an lines going to each rail. The clutch is in the process of being replaced with a OS Giken twin disc.

This was just for fun and to prove the industry wrong about the RX-8. We are/will be testing lost of new stuff here so I am not eliminating the possibility of some of it making it into production.

We plan on taking our time tuning and testing everything carefully and slowly so when we have figures we will post them but I have no idea when that will be. Most of the tuning will be "street" tuning since this is meant to be a street machine. We plan to take it to the strip if we have a chance.

Thanks for looking and enjoy!

Best regards,

Chris

holy sh*t.
wtb.

Besides the fact that that turbo is enormous, i must say, the upper intake manifold is freaking awesome.

Motomouse 05-26-2009 08:26 PM

I want it even more now :)

gregs 05-26-2009 10:01 PM

nice looking setup...big props to you!

Symbioticgenius 05-26-2009 10:10 PM

No Joke. Do this, I will buy.

YaXMaNGTO 05-26-2009 11:02 PM

Groovy!

Please please please please take it to the strip.

8rocks 05-26-2009 11:10 PM

Payment sent

TeamRX8 05-26-2009 11:16 PM

just curious, are you planning for cold air intake feed through the hood or ??? :dunno:

Brettus 05-26-2009 11:25 PM

you forgot to post a price :nono:

kersh4w 05-26-2009 11:33 PM

video of it running and revving.

also, is it for sale?

chickenwafer 05-26-2009 11:43 PM

very nice!

I peep the Adel Wiggins clamps, ballin!

I really like the UIM, you guys should sell that ;) What Size plenum did you end up using?

Also if you have more details of that fuel system I would be interested (specifically pics of the fuel pumps and connections)

What EMS are you running?

nycgps 05-26-2009 11:57 PM

As soon as you tell us the release date.

Im going to dig every single penny I have in my piggy bank ... if thats not enough, I will start robbing those old lady ... I mean err Im going to get another job, sell my blood, my sperm, whatever to make those extra $$$$$

You, sir, continue to impress me daily with your updates. I really hope this set up works out well and becomes available for purchase sometime in the near future.

Impressive... its good to see Esmeril pressing the limits of the Renesis motor. There are far too few people doing so, and is probably one of the reasons the aftermarket crowd doesn't care much for the RX-8 to begin with. Having a 500 whp reliable FI Renesis is very cool, even if its not a bolt on kit. I'll definitely be subbed to this one.

dhan 05-27-2009 09:23 PM

Oh wow i would be looking into this when you guys start to sell! hopefully i save enough money by then

suay 06-02-2009 04:20 PM

I am looking forward to my seals and I will be one of the first to have them. I will post info on how they hold up to SCott's infamous stage 3. Mucha gracias BORICUA (DICE EL MEXICANO)!!!!!!

Derex'8 06-02-2009 09:07 PM

Damn you all still continue to amaze me! Very nice indeed, I do hope you go forward with the production of some of these parts.

JinDesu 06-02-2009 09:13 PM

Not for sale you say...

gibs!??!? :D

chancejat 06-02-2009 09:20 PM

you gonna run the stock transmission, drive shaft and axles? i would definitely suggest longer gearing...

The only think I want to know about the the extreme power and everything..is what about HEAT how are you controlling that? What boost for a minute and then hold off for 10?

Here are a few points of interest to answer your very good question.

1. Turbo cars don't generate more heat just from being turbo'ed (with proper shielding of the turbo components). They do so from generating more energy than stock when you put the foot down and the turbo boosts the engine and a lot of times this is offset by the fact that the engine is running richer than stock and the exhaust gas temps are way lower in turbo form. This probably covers about 10% of the time you are using the car on the street. The rest you are cruising from point A to point B and the car is generating the same amount of kilojoules it did to move from point A to point B so extra cooling is not needed. Under lots of boost, a racing situation or any of these combined with extreme heat (not in MN :)) a better radiator is a good thing. The car in the thread spends most of its time on the street and in cool weather.

2. I drove my car for 3 years turbo'ed...1.5 of which was at power levels in the 400whp range.

3. The car in this thread runs on E-85 which basically means it runs extremely cool compared to gas. As a matter of fact, I can't get the car to reach or exceed 1000deg EGT. Ever since we switched it takes the car way longer to warm up to operating temperature further proving this point.

All these factors come together to allow a stock cooling system to handle the extra horsepower.

So this means your apex seals are availalbe?
