$197 is wholesale for the Denso through Mazda.
$143 is the wholesale price on the aftermarket replacements from BWD, NGK or BA.

Any updates? Did you get the front O2 Sensor replaced? Still having the same issues?

We didn't get the o2 installed. Instead I'm returning the sensor and looking into a WB with a gauge. My only issue is how do I get the sensor to communicate with the car / cobb?

I watched a few videos on you tube and its pretty straight forward to install up untill I get to that point of logging the data for MM.

The stock front sensor is a wideband, the rear is narrow band.
I would replace the Front sensor with an OEM and install a Wideband sensor in the rear O2 sensor position for an AFR Gauge.

you can't - Run back and get the oem one then do what kma suggested.

That's a good unit, I think you need the interface though. I know Access Tuner Race has an interface for PLX built in so you may just be able to hook it up to the laptop running ATR and log that way. But I don't understand why the stock wide band is not sufficient for trouble shooting your issues. I will be testing all the PLX stuff and ATR on Hoss-05's car soon so I'll know exactly how to do it after that.

Ok new update 4/4/12

I had Chip from Chip's Motorsports come out to the shop and take a look at the kit. He is recommending that I take the Cobb off and use the Microtech LT-10. He said that the Cobb cant be used in this application because I need an ECU that can read MAP not MAF. Also that there could be an issue with the fuel regulator.

MM, I'm asking your advice....and at this point I think you need to PM me (with a phone #) so we can go over possibly flying you out here for a few days, but you'll need to bring some of those lovely ladies.....at your expense of course!

I don't get it, why can't you modify the kit to work? I would make an intake with the MAF pipe incorporated into it to the turbo inlet and just put a new pipe where you have the AEM piece now pre throttle body. And by regulator do you mean you have a separate fuel pressure regulator? or are you talking about the regulator in the factory pump housing?

Also, MM is banned from this site. You should try contacting Kane at www.ppo2performance.com, he is the shizzle and will shoot you straight.

This is the ecu you want;

10x better than a microtech.

In your scenario I would definitely ditch the Cobb.

I should have asked on the phone instead of assumed; do you have the same size MAF tube as stock(3.5 O.D with 16 gauge tubing)? Idle control might be hard if not, as the adaptronic uses the stock ECU for this. Unless you want to add a separate idle control motor, or switch to a cable driven throttle body.

I have tuned several microtech Rx-7s, and attempted several Rx8s with no success for those wondering. I define success as a properly running car, not just one that can make WOT dyno pulls...

+1

he may be out of pocket... I recall him needing to relocate for a while with work... requiring him to leave his 8 at home

I know this is really late, but I saw Jeff MAF tune an Esmeril kit a couple months back. There were some issues with stalling at idle, but using Elliot's quote it did do a WOT run to produce around 250whp.

I think they called it a day with instructions to move the O2 sensor. I can't remember exactly where the sensor was in relation to the manifold / outlet, but remember it being really whacked.
