Cermet Coating
 

So I'm looking to get my housings Cermet coated. I have cash in hand and ready to ship...

The problem is, I can only find 2 places that can do it and both wont do it.

Rotatory Engine says they are selling what is in stock and then not doing it any more. Of course, they don't have any housings in stock that I need. They have FD housings.

J.H.B Performance says "Unfortunately, I cannot cermet coat your housings right now, we are no longer doing custom or small batches of rotor housings. I do have 1 renesis rotor housing available for sale @ $800 if you are interested." 1 housing, only if they had 2 lol.

I'm kinda at a stand still on what to do. The Cermet was part of my rebuild plan.

Do any of you know a place that will do the cermet coating?

jayrerickson i really don't know about that who is best at your place but your thinking is superb but if you try some car graphics on that your car gonna rock on roads

Cheaper then getting new housings and all I hear is good things about Cermet. Better then Ceramic.

Ceramic coating turned out to be not so good-eats away the apex seals and that's why basically everyone stopped doing it. Waste of time and money.

Yes Ceramic coating will do that. I'm looking for Cermet coating. 2 completely different coatings and materials.

wont eat ceramic seals

From what I have researched, it wont eat any seal faster then OEM. The coating has better properties then OEM.

Free's up HP just on the fact it holds oil. The OEM chrome doesn't hold any oil. The Cermet is more pliable, meaning it wont chip or flake. It is more durable, wont ware as fast as the chrome, plus it holds oil so the ware factor decreased more.

It is the same coating they used in the 24 hour LeMans winning 787B racecar.

To me, its a must try. And I need new housings. Cheaper then buying new ones. The process involved is removing the chrome and replacing it with Cermet.

have you looked into either microblue or polydyn coatings?

I know a few here have used it on irons, bearings and turbo parts.

also have been used by some here on irons, bearings, turbine housings, and hot side components.

Now I personally don't know if either product has been used on the housing surface. Since its a chrome alloy, that may be why. Like I said, I just don't know.

I only know what professional engine builders have shared with me, which is a whole lot more than yourself ... they wasted the money finding out, feel free to do the same
