Can I Boost The RX-8 To 500 HP
well im an amateur in tuning cars............
so i just wana ask if i can boost the hp of rx-8 upto at least 500 hp?????
if i can then how?????
i know that you can add a turbo , but that isnt enough....
i saw in one magazine that a guy was able to boost the hp of a rx-7/fd3s upto 400+ hp.......
i was wondering if any of you can tell me how to boost it upto 500 hp..............
ty..................

Yes, the Acosta is nice (seen it last summer at a meeting in NJ) but it is not an auto ! The thread originator wants 500 HP from the 4-port engine.
....I would be happy with just 250 WHP from the same engine

Searching google is kinda hard, since it comes up wiht so much irrelevant stuff, but.......
I get the impression the 13B is modular? Can you just add another rotor and housing?

Short answer is yes.
However, you're probably not going to do it without 100k to spend. (not including the car)
There are very few cars that will reach that kind of power levels easily with modifications. Most of them already start near $100k + .

Yes, you can do it. Just put a 350 shot of nitrous in there & boom you are off to 500 hp. Of course it might only last you 1 run down the 1/4 mi., but who cares ?

seriously, if you wanna get your 8 into the 400+hp range, pm me and we can work something out. 500 is a little ambitious without nitrous and a really good ems, but i bet we can get more than 400 to the wheels without much trouble. and technically speaking, that is somewhere around the 500 hp range at the flywheel.
i'm down to do this project!!

^^^HA, with what! Extra rotor(s), Perf-ports, nitrous, T04R, lightweight rotors, one hell of an EMS and some serious fuel system componets. If you were being serious I would love to hear your ideas. that would really be something, especially with a vehicle this radically new.

Its pretty easy to get a 13b-REW to over 500 hp - just look at my RX-7s setup and there you are.
As far as the Renesis, I don't know.
You could try swapping in a 13b-REW and then porting it, replacing the seals with 3mm, tuning a PowerFC and swapping in a powerful single turbo.
As far as the Renesis, probably a GT42R turbo, some thicker seals, lower the compression, give it a porting, upgrade the fuel system and run a shitload of boost. Also, try staight 80mm piping from the downpipe out, no catalytic converter. 18 psi on a GT42R should probably put you around where you want to be. I made over 300 on only 11 psi with a GT3540R, so you do the math.

it's new, but then again...it isn't.
first off---ems
i'll piggy back the input signals so the stock computer still thinks it's in charge, but i'll pirate the output signals so the ems will have total control. i may or may not be able to keep the fly-by-wire, so if i can't, i'll use a different throttle body and hook up linkage.
passenger motor mount bracket gets redesigned to accomodate the new manifold, gt35/40r with 1.06 hot side, obvious fuel mods, return system with external fpr, big injectors, aux ports sleeves may or may not go away...depends on if i can control them with the ems.
intake ports don't have to be crazy... exhaust ports will get thoroughly gouged out and new plates welded in to reshape the water jacket. exhaust ports will also be ceramic coated to prevent heat soak and keep the weld from cracking. new fully divided sleeve in the center housing.
pp's shouldn't be necessary by any means, but it'd be fun to block the stock exhaust ports and drill through the rotor housing--then you could have your exhaust sleeve the same diameter the whole way (like rg's sleeves)...pp exhaust is doable.
i'll bet you a dollar i can get 400 to the wheels reliably.

How much would a project like this cost, and would you need to change the suspension or add frame stiffening parts, or change the tranny?

guy, hit me up on aim: fcrotorhead and we'll talk pricing, or pm me and i'll give you my number...i'm not a rapist, but it's not gonna be cheap.
we'll probably jack the tranny and use one from an fc or fd...depending on what fits better. maybe we'll frankenstein one.
bk, i emailed jim @ racing beat about doing some aluminum side housings for the renesis, so a 3 rotor renesis option is doable...it'd just cost 20-30k...not worth it IMO
