Any one running FD rotors with seals in there boosted rx8 ???????

I don't believe you can as the rx8 rotors have the side seals further out towards the edge of the rotor which keeps them in place as the side seals sweeps over the exhaust port.

You would either have to change the shape of the port or have another grove cut into the REW rotors to fix.

I could be 100% wrong about this.

He already knows the answer, but went full cotton headed ninnymuggin anyway starting a dedicated thread. It’s been discussed numerous times including the Pettit SC thread recently. There’s only been one, maybe two people who did it here. Pettit offers custom machining to add an equivalent cut-off seal, but again he already knows all that.

  • PBR III has all the mods of build I & II plus it uses lower compression 13b RX7 FD rotors. This setup also requires special CNC machining to accept custom made outer gas sealing rings and also requires special balancing. This is the right choice with forced induction applications where more than 350 whp is desired.

... in an FD/REW engine no less.

For a Renesis engine, without the cutoff seal you’ll have hot exhaust gases bleeding from the rotor side seals sliding over the side exhaust ports and releasing it into the intake ports. The 13B peripheral port exhaust doesn’t have this issue. Pettit did a lot of FI Renesis work in the early years. I wouldn’t discount the need for the cutoff seal too readily. If Mazda felt it was necessary for NA, it’s needed even more for FI imo.

the only one I’m aware of was Rote8 and as far as I know he ended up never getting it fully tuned due to some personal situations. The car was sitting a while and then sold earlier this year, not sure who has it now. Forum member “Bastage” probably knows.
