did you make that MAF table team?

Brettus 07-25-2015 11:54 PM

Went in to see how it was going yesterday . Just the downpipe and WG pipe to do . ETA mid next week . Bit disappointed with the inability to go big on the inlet and outlet pipework . Having the WG forward has really compromised that part of the design .
So , it better spool up good cuz top end may be a bit disappointing .

Hey Mark sent you a PM about this on Friday. Haven't heard anything back from you yet on shipping, etc from a couple weeks ago there.

Thanks

Sorry Brett I know this has nothing to do with your build!

shambo 07-28-2015 02:50 PM

Brettus, did you consider going MAFless? or did you want the ability for g/s measurement to stay?

I like the factory drive-ability i get with maf tuning . I will persist with it unless I see a good reason not to .

furry muff :)

forgive me if i've missed it but are you running 1600cc injectors for this power level? they seem to be about right for this setup, keeping the 2 stock primaries?

P1=yellow
Sec= blue
P2= uncapped yellow

Works out to around 2800ccs all up .

:icon_droo :Drooling_

I must have worked something out wrong then, gonna go check my math,

*edit* just worked it out again and i'm coming up with around 5100cc required  working on AFR of 10:1 to be on the safe side...

stinksause 07-28-2015 05:50 PM

Brett, are you running a return line?

2800 will be marginal for 400whp but 5100 is way overkill ...

Just using the matchbot program it comes to 280lb/hr at 11.0 AFR for 450 flywheel hp

gasoline specific gravity = 0.74 so (280/0.74 )/2.2lbs/kg /60 = 2.866 L/min

=2866ccs

Leaves me no headroom so I will probably need to upgrade

Just running a DW300 with some internal mods to pump assy. at this stage . Has been fine for street duty.

TeamRX8 07-28-2015 06:53 PM

62 lb/min @ 10:1

62 lb/min air mass / 10 = 6.2 lb/min = 372 lb/hr fuel mass required

372 lb/hr / 0.85 max injector duty cycle = 437.7 lb/hr = ~4600 cc/min injector capacity

.

2866 cc/min = 273 lb/hr = 4.55 lb/min max capacity

4.55 lb/min x 0.85 max duty cycle = 3.87 lb/min max capacity available

60.2 lb/min air mass / 3.87lb/min fuel mass = 15.6:1 AFR

Seems like plenty of off-with-your-head room ... lol

Heh .
I've already run it to 375whp with no lean out ..........so do the math on that ;)

It's only 55lb/min air (according to matchbot) at 11.0 AFR . Work that out at 100% DC and you can see ............... no headroom . But it's not going to lean out like you suggest

Is that 2800 at stock flow 3 bar or is that corrected for our aditional fuel pressure? I'm running 3750 CC's at 3bar and Figured that was good for more then the engine will even handle.

if 2800cc is @ stock and he's running 100psi through them, the flow is closer to 4200cc/min.

Brettus 07-29-2015 04:06 AM

Hmmmmm .... maxed out the maf on my first log ..... :p:
This was at 14psi.

Wut? Have no recollection of him running anything other than the OE pump bypass which is typically near 60 psig, maybe a little higher with a super high flow fuel pump due to bypass flow restriction. The boost pressure has to be subtracted from fuel pressure to determine the net injector working fuel pressure.

Running logs already and no pics? What is the spoolup looking like?

Dyno = more important IMO :P:

Looks pretty smooth though. Is spool as quick as you thought it would be?

He could have upgraded and kept it quiet :) :yelrotflm

Brettus 07-29-2015 04:45 AM

In short :

Boost control is superb
Power is awesome at the top end

Spoolup is not great .... I think I know why but would like to test a few things before confirming this.

shambo 07-29-2015 04:56 AM

Spoolup is overrated anyway

I take it your first impressions are good then? :)

Had a pretty big smile on my face when I took it through the gears .

I don't think 400whp will be a problem ... which is great . But the spoolup is big disappointment at this stage as it was just as important to what I'm trying to achieve.

shambo 07-29-2015 05:17 AM

Good stuff. Even if it's spooling @4k that still gives around 5krpm of usable boost. If it's spooling later then I feel your pain. Have u got enough pd across the turbine? :)

True 4 inch exhaust?
