Best path for FI kit
 

Ok this is the deal, I have $5000 maybe a little more to spend on a FI kit for my 8. I was just wanting to know what my options are. I've been reading up on the different kits available and some of the future kits and I'm having a hard time deciding which one to go with. I've heard that the Greddy kit doesn't provide great numbers on the dyno, but is a reliable kit that spools up quickly. This is more than likely going to be my choice of kits but I'm wanting as close to 300 hp as I can get without blowing my engine. This is basically my daily driver. What can be added to this kit to make it produce more horses?

I've also looked into Ptps turbo kit and I'm more impressed with the look and performance of their kit but it's more expensive and doesnt come with engine management. What's everyone's take on this kit?

Oh my car already has a 3.5" exhaust on it from the headers back with no cat. So I'm thinking my exhaust is good enough for FI.

Just wanting some ideas and input before I spend this 5 grand.

I'm also wondering if nitrous can be used with the Greddy kit? Has anyone done it? If so what kit did they use? What about the Nitrous Express N-tercooler Kit? I'm just trying to consider all of my options here. Any info would be great.

Nitrous definately can be used--I believe one member has it on his turboed 8 (Zex maybe?). Greddy is probably your best bet as those cars are putting out 240+whp which is close to or equal to about 300HP at the crank. SSRs kit is more aggressive but more $$

I did my GReddy out the door for $5000 installed - feels like it came stock. Go that way - its readily upgradeable in the future if there's not enough power for you.

If you have $5000, you are best off getting the Greddy kit. The other kits installed will probably be over $5000. You still need to add gauges, a gauge pod, a BOV, tuning, maybe some colder plugs if you have money available. I know Horse has nitrous with his Greddy, but it is not fully installed yet. Haven't heard of anybody running more than 55 hp shot, let alone turbo & nitrous although you can certainly richen up the fuel mixture to do so.

Yeah I'm basically set on this Greddy kit for the simple fact that I can upgrade it with the extra cash. There's a place in town that can get it for $2400 shipped with their discounts and will let me have it for that if I do some car show thingy for their shop. So that'll leave me with about $2300 ish to spend pumping up this kit. Any segestions on what to add to this kit? I know Racing Beat has that option of doing something to the fuel system or something where you have to send it off to them for a little while. Like I said I'd like to be getting right at or above 300 whp. What other options will help me achieve this goal?

$2400 for the kit is a steal. Most of us, even at the cheapest is around $2900. If they are going to do the install & tuning for you that will save you another $1200. With the additional $2300 I would recommend a nice set of gauges (boost, egt, etc.), gauge pod. To add more power a boost controller, colder plugs, upgraded fuel system (injectors, if not more), turbo timer. Racing Beat offers the metering oil pump modification. Maybe go to an upgraded clutch from ACT.

yeah an LS1 oh wait maybe a new LS2. That would definitly do it for power but then there's not high reving spinning triangles. What's the fun in that? They are not installing or tuning it. I'll be doin that stuff myself. I've heard someone on here has a better map for the Emanage. Not sure about the tuning yet though. If I can find someone to do it good then I'll just let them do it all.

I'll for sure be getting those things listed. I really like the factory look of the Defi gauges and this place in town can get them for a decent prive too. Anything else that could help with this? I'd like to have a solid plan before forking out the money peice by peice.
