Im thankful for the pics. I went with the blackout kit, BHR spacer and nozzle. I should find out in the next 48 hours if Im going home the last week in Feb like I requested......can't wait!

This is a great install. Too bad my ashtray is already taken up with a Racing Beat gauge pod, but I may find another location.

Mr.We$t 02-16-2010 11:36 AM

Any body have a purge kit installed with there setup

benjo 02-16-2010 06:08 PM

Good job dude ,
I`m planning to install nos kit in a few weeks,

8 Maniac 02-19-2010 02:08 AM

Just got my spacer in today... tempted to try and install it tomorrow but in the event that some random issue comes up I dont want to be without a car over the weekend...

I was just thinking about something that should be fun. I haven't had my tank filled in a while and this is motivating me to get it filled. The last time I had my tank filled I still had my RB dual catback. The backfires with nitrous were quite big with that exhaust. I now have the HKS single and the backfires with it are bigger than the RB with nitrous. I want to see what nitrous + HKS single will be like.

I like the in car vid. Looks like you have your setup pretty ironed out.

It seems like videos of the gauges can give you a pretty good idea of power. I just stumbled on this one.

al, What was the overal outcome with this? "ah the memories" leads me to think you eventually took the kit off?
Any particular reason why. I'm very serious about buying the BHR kit. Thoughts?

I had this setup on my previous RX8. Unfortunately, it was totaled though I had taken it off prior to that to sell anyway. I went through about 8 bottles. It sure is fun while it lasts...

You will not go wrong getting it from BHR. Be safe with the installation..

Kinky_Kelsey 06-09-2010 06:35 AM

just barely set mine up. no bhr tbs though. they're sold out :( so i just drilled into the intake, and i'll buy an aftermarket one and the bhr tbs when they're restocked.

took a couple test runs though, it definitely accelerates faster. but also i don't really feel the umph.

awesome though. the little 55 shot seems like a good way to add some hp.

alz0rz 07-19-2010 10:03 AM

I still get inundated with questions regarding this setup, especially through my Youtube videos!

Redirecting everyone to this thread as it has most if not all of the answers to the questions people ask!!

I updated the bottom half of the first post and second post with new pics!

I mounted the ZEX module today and tapped the TPS signal. I also tested the arming switch with the module all hooked up, perfect!

Left to do:

- Fuel line tap.. i'm completely replacing the stock fuel line.,, need a SAE 30r9 rated fuel hose.. none of the auto parts stores near me have one!
- Run the nitrous line from the trunk.
- Mount the nitrous bottle in the trunk.
- Install BHR spacer.. I'll do this when I have the UIM off to remove and replace the fuel line.

After that it's just permanently wiring everything up and filling the bottle!! :)

What color is the TPS wire you tapped into? im in the middle of a install and got stuck becuase i dont know what wire to tap into if anyone could post a picture it would be very awesome!

White, if the connector is plugged in, it is on the top.

SebtownRx8 04-30-2011 05:18 PM

white and dont tap in near the tb connection, try to go as far down as you can cause if you ever need to put back on its nice to have some wire room to work with.

bobsaggit 05-01-2011 06:43 AM

Thanks alot! will be finishing this install as soon as my k&n intake comes.

9krpmrx8 05-01-2011 11:15 AM

oops, just looked it is at the bottom if it's plugged in. The white wire though.

bobsaggit 05-02-2011 07:30 AM

I orderd the zex kit from summit racing. I have used summit many times befor knew they ship fast and are safe.this was befor i was a member of this forum. Now that i know there is a company out there that also adds install suport i will use them next time. At the time of purchase tho i didnt.

bobsaggit 05-02-2011 07:36 AM

So the gas line tap that comes with the kite dose not fit are stock gas line? Also the gas line u guys are using has a red clip sorta by the fire wall rite?

Um, double and triple check any gas line fittings before starting, after starting, after driving and again the next day

I converted my gas line to a -6 AN from the firewall to the fuel rails, I do not like any plastic gas line.

bobsaggit 05-17-2011 11:24 AM

the only connector i see has about 8 wires and non are white there all like red and orange

I know this thread is pretty specific to the ZEX kit, but would the possibility of popping apart one's intake be reduced by manually controlling the nitrous flow? That way one can cut the nitrous before letting off of the throttle. It makes sense to me.

Furthermore, this thread has taken most of the mystery of out nitrous, so I want to thank Al and Charles for putting so much effort into it. The only thing that could have made it better is functioning pictures...

Seems like nitrous might be right for me & mine.

alz0rz 07-04-2011 12:51 AM

Yeah sorry about the pictures they are irrecoverable because the web server I had them on imploded. :(

Manually controlling nitrous flow would require discipline. I think, properly used, the nitrous module will always be a better option compared to our limited attention span and slow reaction time.

I also can't believe this was more then 2 years ago!

I can see your point, I've seen guys blow their intakes apart manually controlling nitrous, too. Perhaps I have too much confidence in myself.:D:

Dont sweat the pictures, I'm sure there are pics around from other peoples installs and if I do this, I'm going straight through BHR because they have such great support. I have a couple of other upgrades that are going to happen first, and A LOT more reading, but thanks for giving me a good starting block. There are a lot more 8'ers with nitrous than I had thought, and thats a comforting thing to know.

Kamal El 11-01-2018 03:27 AM

all the flipping pictures are gone! Any other good install threads?

200.mph 11-01-2018 06:56 PM

what do you need to know?

TripleRotor 02-10-2019 01:39 AM

New here, as you can see by my post count, but not new to rotaries (three RX-7s) and nitrous(spraying for 20 years). I saw somewhere that the secondary and tertiary injectors are far below their duty cycle values. How much hp/torque can the injectors support at 80% and 100% duty cycle. Can the factory fuel pump handle that much flow? I have always been a big fan of dry shots and letting the factory injectors take car of extra fuel.

Kamal El 02-10-2019 06:51 AM

Didnt see this reply thanks. I dont think Im going to consider this mod anymore. It would be nice to see the original pics though.

TripleRotor 02-10-2019 09:33 PM

You should consider a dry set-up. Really easy to set-up. Not a big fan of wet set-ups, because most intakes are not designed to distribute fuel properly. Based on what I read on here, seems like some people have had some puddling issues. Also, for some reason, the fuel solenoids are notorious for failing. I guess you could fix this with a Hobbs pressure switch. Most cars run about 20% rich with WOT to keep the cats safe. I am thinking with 93 octane, you could get away with a 40hp shot of nitrous without touching anything. I was surprised how little HP people were getting with the BHR kit. Seems like it was too rich. Don't forget that HP is just part of the story. The real fun is torque! 40HP shot should yield around 40 ft/lb if you have enough fuel. That is a 25% jump in torque!
