Chip and I are planning to tackle some more tuning next weekend.

Carbon8 05-09-2013 08:49 AM

You sir, have a hole in your plan.

ShellDude 05-09-2013 09:18 AM

10.5 is certainly safe

faith&firepower 05-10-2013 07:22 AM

I highly recomend talking to Chip if you need any work done.

Does he do remote tuning? Or do you live by his shop?

pdxhak 05-10-2013 09:32 PM

Is Chip tuning Cobb AP or Adaptronic for you?

ShellDude 05-10-2013 09:33 PM

Pretty sure F&F is using the Adaptronic.

faith&firepower 05-13-2013 07:34 AM

Yes he is semi-local (about a little less than 2 hours) and I am using the adaptronic ECU.

I don't know if he can/will do remote tuning, but his rebuilds are killer! He does a lot of 20B's and custom work, rotor plating and machining custom wheels.

Here's his club page:

His FD is truly a work of art, and you can see his start up from last week on the FB page.

Bump for updates.

faith&firepower 08-14-2014 10:39 AM

Going to be selling this soon.....the entire car with turbo setup

200.mph 08-14-2014 10:47 AM

i remember your build from a long time ago. did you ever get your issues straightened out?

9krpmrx8 08-14-2014 10:52 AM

This was one of the ones I was sort of rooting for since 99% of the Esmeril setups are failures.

Gravey 08-14-2014 12:10 PM

Is that a boost gauge from a Cobalt SS?

Never mind I see the autometer logo! :)

Nice PLX gauge too, what's going behind door #3? want more pics!!!!

faith&firepower 08-18-2014 01:46 PM

I never got the car to get past 6k rpms. I just got married in June and could afford to keep throwing my $ at it for the past 2 years. Its been sitting, waiting to be set up. I could post the map that Chip made for me from Chips Motorsports to see if someone sees something, but he had the car for a while and without starting from step one (taking everything off) he didn't really have anything else to help with.

faith&firepower 08-18-2014 01:49 PM

I will say though, at 6k the car screams like a raped banshee and has so much more to give....I want to see it one day, but right now the car is a 8-10k paperweight sitting around.

My DD is an e90 M3, so it takes care of my needs, and when its time for kids, I can fit them in the back without moving seats.

200.mph 08-18-2014 01:50 PM

sorry to hear that man

ShellDude 08-18-2014 04:43 PM

Going lean above 6k?

MUGEN1800 08-27-2014 08:26 PM

Dam esmeril kits. It sucks cause the ones that get theirs working are ghosts lol. I need that kit sorted out as well. Car has to be shipped soon.

RotaryMachineRx 08-28-2014 09:48 AM

^ So does that mean that you bought it?

MUGEN1800 09-04-2014 10:28 PM

. . . . . . ... Yes. ... . . . . . I'm slightly more operational. But not fully. I'm leaning towards the fuel setup. Possibly on my installation skills.

faith&firepower 05-04-2017 03:28 PM

So no love for RX-8 here.....

Its been 3 years sitting in my garage on wheel dolly's. I sold my M3 and jeeps. This is too hard to let go. Too much time and money into it.

One of these days I'll buy a new battery and get her started up and maybe take a quick spin before the fuzz see the plates are expired....of course nothing over 6k still.
