Hello! The EWP is a stand alone unit and therefore stock waterpump is remowed.
On the street i will use the EWP control unit which automatically holds the right temperature so no thermostat is used. When racing no control unit is used, just full flow. Hope to gain 3-5 more hp with the EWP. /Lasse |
nice---i would not be surprised with more hp than that at the upper limits of the revs. Cant wait to see how you installed in the car. ewp has many advantages in favor of the rotory engine.

The first i am gonna install the water pump for the dyno testing, thats easy. Next in the car it is more complicated and that will take some time becausse of all the other rotary projects i'm working on.

unless you have tuning capability you won't really learn much, once you do have it you might learn that they'll all dyno about the same once optimized ... ;)

summit has ewp listed with flow rates to 35 gallons/min. i dont know under what pressure. ewp is in it's infancy (like electric power steering used to be). It has unquie advantages.

Use Evan's NPG coolant and you don't have to worry about pressure. It's an unpressurized system.

Sorry in advance for the hi-jack;
The water pump that we are almost finished develping will flow twice that amount effectively at elevated revs (8k plus) and you don't want to use NPG for endurance racing in rotaries. It does have it's benefits and proper application. Paul. PS. Good luck with your project Lasse! |
A little update! I have decided to go with the Motec M2R ECU on my project Renesis 300 hp.It has a specialised software for 2 rotors only and should suit my needs.It runs 4 individual coils with rotary split functionality. I also get great help from my friend Roger who has used Motec for more than 10 yeaers, and tuned both N/A and turbo charged engines.
Right now i wait for my header maker to have 2 different designs ready for me and also Mikael who is doing the final touch of the intake manifold for project 300 hp. As when the engine is in the dyno room? I can't get you any date but will probably be in July. /Lasse |
Came to think that the M2R only has 4 drivers for injectors and Renesis engine uses 6! I don't know if it's good to only use 4 injectors in the engine 2 for primary and 2 for 4 port secondary? I can go with the M600 but it cost to much. The RX-8 coils is not so strong and they have been tested at a company www.nira .se (or com) so i might use a VAG coil instead.

The MoTeC 400 is already fully synched with the Renesis application. You may want to ask them for input first ....

No, all pre renesis 13B had two primaries and two secondaries :( There is a company that makes an OEM LIM replacement for the 13B REW, that holds 4 injectors. |
The RX-7 injectors were larger. The 13B 1st gens had only 2 injectors, a pair of 680 cc units. The nonturbo 2nd gens had 4-460 cc units and the 2nd gen Turbo II's had 4-550 cc units. The 3rd gen had 2-550 cc and 2-850 cc injectors. Mazda is getting better atomization using 6 injectors (smaller ones) on the RX-8.

Right now Micke is almost done with the 6 barrell Renesis prototype intake manifold, it is just the throttle linkage left. As many of you know PeterG must fabricate a stainless header in August so i can have it on the dyno. Becausse this is a " race engine" i am planning on dyno without exhaust system. Also i am gonna use a small 40 amp generator and electic waterpump. The fuel injection will probably be Efitec, a Swedish made injection,distriburless ignition set up. If i had the money and time it maybe be a Motec M-600 that can control 6 injectors. Everything takes some time to finish so be patient!

A M400 will do the job depending on the number of auxillary outputs you need to run other stuff. if you need more than 2 inj per rotar you can run them from tables.

Just reviving this old thread once again, would deff. like to hear again from Lasse. Also, some of the old timers might remember Judge Ito and his infamous "stock 240WHP" Rx8, I wonder what happened to him.
