#$^# Wastegate Bolts Backed out again!
Does anyone have a solution to wastegate bolts backing out. So far I've torqued them until my elbow went click and I've used lock washers. But that only holds for so many miles and so much pressure.
What works long term? Red locktite, green locktite? Tac weld the bolts? Lockwire? I'm halfway to spending the money and having the manifold reworked for v-bands. Any suggestions before I drop way more money than I want to? |
Nordlock washers.

Thanks! Got some ordered. 8Psi here I come!

I use stage8 fasteners on my turbo to manifold because I was having issues. I have not had and issue since,
|
Ok, went with stage 8, now I'll have extra lock washers. I'll find uses.
Just please don't mention the fact that I am getting reasonable parts for a quality build. I have a reputation to maintain around here. |

Those are pretty cool, I will have to give them a try. The stage 8 worked for me, my turbo to manifold bolts kept getting loose over time. But these look easier to use.
|
We have them at my work as well, but I work with idiots so there are a bunch of them sitting in the bin where somebody pried the two pieces of the washer apart and only used one side lmao.
|
must be related to the idiots we have here.

why did I watch that darn video... it makes me want to go back and replace every lock washer with one of these gizmos :hahano: nice find! :icon_tup:

these are really meant for high frequency and high amplitude applications like vibrating motors assemblies for industry. unless you're having an issue a standard lock nut for automotive applications should be fine. |
