Yet Another Sub Install

5 Attachment(s)
I finished up my sub install this week. I've attached a few pictures documenting the 4 gauge cable run through the firewall to the battery, the grounding point I use for the sub amp (and a 4 channel amp), and the fitment in the trunk.

Looks good! Nice clean looking install.. and if that's a ported box I bet it sounds GODD in there..

where did you put your amp, or amps? I'm assuming you have more than one amp because you have a splitter on your 12V+ line.. and I see you have a speaker terminal with what looks like 2 power leads going to it. :dunno: how exactly did you hook it all up?

The speaker cup that you see in the first picture is actually for the inside of the subwoofer box. I posted that pic to show an alternative method of cabling the subwoofer other than the quick disconnect cables that fit on the flat tabs or soldering which doesn't work as well with larger cables. The cables in that photo are 10 gauge speaker wire.

The 4 channel amplifier is mounted to the bottom side of the rear deck, pretty much in the same location that the factory bose amp was previously mounted. There is a metal channel running around the back side of the rear deck that is just perfect for running all the power, speaker, rca cables, etc.

The mono amplifier is mounted on the back of the sub box right in the center. This allows me easy access to adjust and tweak the amp settings through the middle storage compartment. It is generally considered a bad idea to mount an amp to a sealed subwoofer enclosure because the internal pressure from the sub makes the walls flex as the subwoofer driver compresses and decompresses the internal air, but this should be less of an issue with a ported box as the internal pressure does not change as drastically (due to the port).

The RCA cables and the front speaker cables run down the center armrest console area between the trunk of the car and the head unit; the front speakers continue running through the dash area through to the doors where the front speakers are mounted.

You can see, in the second set of photos, where the 8 gauge cables are grounded to the chassis on the rear passenger side of the center console behind the back seats.

When completing the installation, I left the two plastic panels separating the trunk from the back seat out of the car as they will likely be nothing more than a potential source of rattling and they are no longer needed to be the finish on the front end of the trunk.

If anybody has specific questions on any part of the install, I'm happy to explain in as much detail as needed. I kept the comments in this post with relatively little detail for brevity's sake.
