XCarlink Died
Well I searched a bit and didn't see anyone else with my problem, maybe someone has an idea of what to do though.
A few days ago my radio stopped recognizing the Xcarlink and CD player. I assumed the connection had just gotten loose, as I'd been playing the the wires a lot (the iPod cable has bent wires or something) but today I took it apart and its in there fine. If I unplug the Xcarlink from the radio, it will recognize CDs again. If its plugged in though, it will only play radio. I'm not sure what could have caused this, besides the Xcarlink unit died or something. Before it happened I hadn't disconnected the battery or anything, it was just random. Does anyone have any suggestions? |
Have you considered maybe the bent ipod cable has a short that is causing the unit not to work? Pics?

I unplugged the iPod connector from the Xcarlink and was using the AUX input. What do you need pics of?

Oh Ok. So without anything actually plugged in the xcarlink itself (Ipod. MP3 player etc),does it still work property? Have you checked the connectors at the of the cable to see if any of the wires have broken or came loose? Does the cable itself been pinched, or has sharp bends in it? Did you jump anyone off right before this happened?

The cables at the end of mine on the Ipod adapter not the 3.5mm are starting to come out of the little case that connects to the Ipod itself. Its still working for now however it does look like crap. Maybe ill call the maufacturer and see what they say to me.

From what I can tell the cable for the xcarlink is in good shape. There are no sharp bends or pinched places or anything, its pretty much a straight shot. It doesn't smell fried or anything, so I'm really confused as to why it doesn't wanna work. I hadn't done anything out of the ordinary before it happened, but my car is acting a little weird. I've had starting problems for a few months now (HOPEFULLY bad starter, but probably bad compression haha) but lately its been worse. I have to crank it for like 10 seconds or so before it'll start sometimes. This just started recently, so I wonder if it has anything to do with the xcarlink dying somehow... |
my xcarlink had done the same thing, i have even check the internal components for corroding or even boiled caps and nothing.

Happened to me as well. Once I took out my XCarLink my CD player came back. Frustrating. Time to upgrade
