Why doesnt my MP3 player auto scroll text?
 

Over the weekend I noticed that in my friends car (non Rx8) he has an aftermarket head unit installed that cando tons of cool shit but one thing Iespecially noticed is that his player automatically scrolls the mp3 artist and track text back and forth while songs play no matter how long they are. Mine on theother hand canonly scroll my text w/the audioknob and it wont even display the entire text on songs w/slightly long titles. WhenI told him how much the mp3 player cost me he saidit was pretty disappointing for the price andthat I should sell it and replace it w/a brand new headunit (his was $130).

Is my MP3 player supposedto be automatically scrolling the text or do we nothave this feature? Also why is mine unableto completely display all of the text for the artist and track info on most of the mp3s? It seems to cut off after 20 letters or so.

If allof this is normal it wont bother me too much but honestly - I bought mine for $250 several weeks ago but its somewhat disappointing that we donthave simple bullshit features like most other systems do nowadays.

This is normal for the Mazda mp3 player. It only displays ID3 v1 tag info and that is limited to 30 total characters. I think a lot of us would have changed to an aftermarket HU a long time ago if it were that easy. The layout of the RX-8's dash makes that anything BUT easy.
