who's the maker of the navi
who makes the navi software and hardwares?
Alpine? btw, where's the antenna on the 8? |
Good question... anyone know? Must be someone good since Bose is doing the audio.
|
the hardware is panasonic, the radio antenna in teh rear glass...
but i can't remember the name of the software... it was answered in another thread... if you search it'll come up, hot topic. |
thanx! :D
|
thanks
i was actually asking for the radio antenna, if that's on the rear glass too? not sure if you were answering the nav antenna (don't they usually go on the center of the front dash?) |
if alpine makes the software
then there are blank map in the US that they have not updated yet (still!) if i recall, it's the Geogia area. Honda/Acura uses Alpine and i've seen people in those area bought the nav but it has no map for them and all they get is a blank screen with a cross in the middle pls look out guys |

Does anyone know if the Panasonic will be the DV2300 which includes TMC in Europe?

confirmed that navtech navi software does not support Georgia
so those in the lower corner states watch out |
From Mazda
Also, here is more information you requested for the Navigational system: - It's made from Panasonic. - The screen is at the Center top dash with pop up screen. - It's DVD based. - It is a 7" diagonal. - It is a visual map with turn by turn and audio operated by console mounted controls that utilizes a pointing device and buttons. It uses Mapquest software. |
mapquest is "power by Navtech"
|
Originally posted by TerenceT confirmed that navtech navi software does not support Georgia so those in the lower corner states watch out I use the Garmin StreetPilot III NAV, which uses the Navtech maps, which are the best in the industry. All of North America has all of the major highways mapped. However only the United States has detailed street-by-street maps everywhere, yes including Georgia. I would strongly suggest that anyone from Canada and Mexico check the Garmin web site to verify the detail of coverage in their specific region by using the actual mapping software. |

i dont' think navtech use the save "software" for mapquest and germin, it might be similar between germin and the auto navi system
i was just telling others WHAT I KNOW AS A FACT so no need to guess. what my post originate is info pretaining to Acura's Navi, software by Navtech and it DOES NOT support Georgia and i hope it would serves as a reminder thank you |

NAVTECH ON BOARD is a trademark of Navigation Technologies Corporation". From there you can easily zoom-zoom (hehehe) down and clearly see that Georgia has street-by-street maps everywhere. The MapQuest web site also has the "NAVTECH ON BOARD" clearly displayed. THEY BOTH HAVE COVERAGE IN GEORGIA!!!!! Now it may be true that the Acura NAV does not offer its customer's maps of Georgia, but that should be addressed with Honda because Navtech does have maps of Georgia and THAT is a fact! |

Originally posted by TerenceT obviously this is going nowhere since you want to be right, then i hope you are right in fact, please be right so no one has to look out then we'll all have a good day 1.Garmin and Alpine provide hardware, they do not produce the maps 2. Navtech makes the maps for both Garmin and Alpine 3. Navtech does map the entire U.S. but unfortunately less coverage in Canada & Mexico As to why the Acura/Alpine nav does not have maps for Georgia, I simply do not know. Like I said previously, it would be best for Honda to address this issue because we know that Navtech does make them available. Hopefully Mazda will not follow Honda lead by limiting an area of coverage when the data is available. Cheers!!! |
