Using CD-RW Audio in 6 CD changer
Ok - don't laugh - but it is only today that I realised you could do this. I didn't think CD players would play an audio formatted CD-RW... I want to be able to listen to audio books stored on MP3 and was looking at MP3 players and all sorts. Now it looks like I can have an ever changing set of CD-RWs with my latest recordings on.
So - I think people are doing that on the RX8 with 6 CD changer option. Can anyone out there who is confirm this (my RX8 is due to be with me in a month or so). Also - which CD-RWs work best - any advice? Thanks a lot. Neil |
Get the MP3 player for the head unit...forget the 6 disc or single disc
then keep the files in MP3 format and burn it to a CD-RW...it will play purrfectly and even better the title of the MP3 (for instance the audio book you are listening to) will be displayed on the HU's display unit---no more conversion of the files and multiple disks (if the audio book is long) plus you can fit many audio books on ONE cd while in MP3 format! |
Too late for that
Mine is a company car and I was not able to get different options such as this - hence me needing to know more about CD-RW stuff.
Thanks |
u buy the unit (only $200) and install it yourself...easy as pie

My bud out here has the 6-CD changer and she's reported that CD-RWs usually play fine. However, sometimes she's had to eject and reload the CD-RW once or twice to get it to read. No differences reported brand-to-brand.

I have 6 CD-RWs in my changer all the time. I have no problems reading the discs, and my personal opinion is the Memorex CD-RWs are best!

CD-RWs are no problem, unless they are really cheap ones. Almost all of my cds in the "sixer" are burned discs.

I think all I have ever used are CD-RWs. I just convert MP3s to .CDA format and it plays perfect. And I like the 6-disc option because I can do the genera switching thing depending on my mood: Metal -> 1, Bjork -> 2, Alternative -> 3, Classical -> 4, Techno -> 5, Disney -> 6 (gotta please the kiddies when I pick em up from school).
Anyhow, it works out really well. I was thinking of buying the mini-disc player as well. That way I can put MP3s on a disc. And the disc will be better protected. I'm constantly scratching up discs. And the mini-disc player will play track/song/album title information across the display (ID3), and mini-discs are mini - I can put 30 in the glove box. |
