Upholstering Interior Custom:opinions

So this tuesday ill start. all my door inserts front and rear, center pieces in all four seats are getting upholstered. OPINIONS PLZ. I own a winning blue 8. The material im going with is the carbon weave pattern. The color is similiar to the winning blue but a little darker. Pics should be up definately by Wednesday maybe Tuesday

I just did my seats in leather. was a PITA but it came out good. I highly recommend getting a set of snap on cutters (dikes) I had a cheapo pair and wore them out in 1 seat and bruised my hands in the process from having to squeeze so hard. I stopped the snap on guy and got a good pair. was like 50 bucks. well worth it the hog rings suck. let me know how the door panels go I gotta do mine but it seems real hard so let me know.

Good job, as well.

I did notice in one of your pictures that there seems to be a lot of rust(?) under the rear passenger seat cushion. Did you have a water leak?

jjc3925 10-10-2008 07:52 PM

wow wish i knew how to do this looks wicked sick

yea i glanced at that and i believe its just that type of metal the plate is..im just guessing but its the plate covering the gas tank...and im guessing theres two pumps two gas tanks....just like how all cars radio and dash brackets tend to rust...im guessing

I took the door panels apart entirely when I upholstered them for my customer.... There are pics on the forum here somewhere, it shows the lower portion of the door with illuminated crossovers in the rear lower and I cut out the factory speaker grill in the shape of a rotor up front. This entire plastic panel was upholstered in black vinyl. The top section should be able to come apart as well. All that one should need is a soldering gun and plastic melting tip from what I remember.
