Unable to program remotes
Hi, I was a tad unlucky in buying my RX8 used. The car was shipped from one used car dealer to the one that I was at and came with one key, no remotes and no manuals. A week after buying the car I got the manuals but they were unable to locate the extra keys or remotes.
I have bought a second key, had it cut and will be returning to the Mazda dealership to have it programmed. I bought two used remotes from ebay in the hope that I could program them. I followed the instructions I found on here and the car goes in to programming mode. I only have the two "new" remotes, so I press the first one's "lock button" twice, then the same for the second, then I do the first again (the instructions look like they are designed for programming a third). Any way, the results are dissapointing, neither remote does anything. I could have two with dud batteries (they aren't new) but I kind of doubt it. Do you have to have the original remotes to program new ones or can this be done and I am doing something wrong? I plan on going to the dealer on Saturday to get the second key programmed, worst case I'll see what can be done there. |
I think you need to working keys to program a new one
either way. FREE BUMP ^^^^^ |
I am trying to program the remotes.
I have heard about the two keys to program a new one. I'll be getting my second key done at the dealership.. Thanks. |
By the way, the remotes are Visteon 41805's, FCC ID: KPU41805, Canada: 4238A 12076.
The batteries are good. When I go through the programming sequence I don't get the door locl/unlock after pressing the remote button twice. Can someone confirm the model number on their remotes for me? This is for an 2004 RX8, USA. |
