Tweeter Question

Well I swapped out my tweets for a pair of Infinity 1011Ts yesterday. Now they definately sound better then the bose I started with and WAY better then the misquitos I ended up with. The only prob I have is a slight hiss at 15+ volume. Kind of like what you would hear when playing a record. I cut off the filters (22F or something like that) from the bose... and this is were I got stuck. The bose speakers have 3 solder points (+, -, -?) and the Inifinities have just 2 (+, -). Now is the 3rd prong on the bose tweets anouther ground or what? I would ussually experiment but I doen't have anouther $70.00 to replace these if I blow them. Any help would be geatly apreciated.

Even with the hiss these sound way better. All those highs I forgot about in the car. I missed that high hat for sure.

Here is the deal. The bose speakers have 3 points because of the built in crossover. Are you using the crossover that came with the tweeters. If you are, then you are cuting out all of your mids because the bose tweeters play mids and highs. I had this same problem so I used the crossover that was on the bose tweeter, this helped the sound a lot. Infinity would cry their heart out if they new I did that, but honesty, it doesn't seem to be over loading the tweeter.

peace!

THX man. So do I put the filter across the + and - terminals on the tweet or do I put it on just the pos or just the neg?

Didn't know you had infinities in your car? Which ones did you get?

I ran the cap inline with the (+) and ran the ground right to the speaker. I got the same tweeters you did.

Thank you Rotary Rasp. How did you mount yours? I cut out the screens and sanded the mounts down to make them as flush as possible. Then I used some E6000 to keep them in place. I think they turned out pretty well. I have at most a .5mm overlap of the new tweeter mounts and the original hole for the bose tweets.

This is a picture I took before I heat the shrink tube. You can see how I mounted the tweeters. Notice the cap?
