For those of you replaceing your cd player for mp3/cd changer/tape player or whatever
First of all read entire post MP3 Installer (2) Pics ! must all the ifo you will need is here so I am not going to beat a dead horse.
(The Gold/Silver bolt, The F@!ken blue tape, ect.)! Good work all who posted there and got great pictures! :D Next I will admit that I didn't read the entire post before starting (ya ya, I get it! blah blah....I thought) READ THE WHOLE THING! A lot good tips! Except this one: After you remove the panel around the gear shift, to include the shifter knob, WRAP IA RAG AROUND THE EXPOSED SHARP EDGE CREATED WHEN THE GEAR SHIFTER KNOB!!!!!!! The results can be devistating! |
One more thing, I had a little more trouble with was that I couldn't 100% tell where the golden bolt was with out a referance point (mabey I was just being thick!). Here is for those of you with skull as thick as mine!
Good luck! saved 300+ bucks! but now I have to figure how to fix the scratch! |

I'll learn from that mistake, definitely.. Thanks for the tip.. I'm waiting on my MP3 Player that I bought from Chadr a couple of days ago. I'm very anxious to get it in, but I will be super careful ... |
sorry to see that
but sometimes SH** happens |
You can always add the cassette or minidisc module -- you'll get a new faceplate to replace your scratched one.

wonder what dealer would charge to replace it
|
I see you mark the side panels no need to remove, but it looks like the screw is behind them. Am I missing something? .
|
You remove the panel directly under the steering wheel. Under that is a metal plate that you also have to take out. Then you can get behind the dash to that brass-colored bolt. It's very awkward to get at, but with a socket extension it's not too bad. Thank goodness there's just the one. :)

Thanks for the input! I'll try fixing it and then seeing if anyone has a spare!
The magic pain in the butt bolt is hard to see but it is there and from what I read and have experianced it is not too tight. You should be able to get it with a socket driver (if you have one that is 10mm!). |
My original goal was to make finding this bolt easier! try this.
