I'm sure you know my ordeal with all the Qs I've had, and as I went along buying parts and stuff, I made notes on what to do, and what not to do.

The only problem I have right now, is a little alternator whine but I know it's because I have a crappy grounding spot, and I'll fix that shortly. The gain on my amplifier is set in the middle for my front components, and almost at zero for my rear 6x9s. The subwoofer has gain in the middle as well. I imagine I can lower the gain if I got one of the 6XS devices, but for now it seems fine. I tapped the wires running off of the head unit, and it seems to be working well -- they go right into my speaker level inputs on my Kicker ZX700.5.

The sound is amazing. I think I need a little Dynamat in my trunk to get a bit more bass into the car, because it seems a lot is lost between my trunk and the cabin. I took a lot of pictures (my Flickr album for this is below), and I know I omitted some stuff because of the tediousness.... I will try to make up for them if I go back and 'fix' anything :)

Anyhoo... I don't think it's a requirement to have the line driver if you have decent speaker level inputs -- although as it's been suggested, it is probably a good upgrade to invest in. If you want to keep a budget though, it's not a 100% requirement.

Enjoy the attached pictures and the Flickr album I took while I was putting everything together! Any questions let me know :)

Did you cut the baffles on the front components. If not, next time you are in there, cut them in half (kind of like the factory speakers) & you will double your mid range response. I tried it both ways and it made a crazy difference when I let the speakers breathe.

Thanks for the pics of crimping. He He!!

Glad you are satisfied with it. I know it is a lot of work.

Yea, I cut a hole in the bottom of the baffles, so if water gets on them then it will roll around the sides and off.... sounds great, but I read that before I did this task so it was worth the effort :)
