Switching from iPod connection to Micro-USB?
Hey guys, first off I apologies is this is the wrong section. I am new to forums and cars for that matter.
I just bought an 04 Mazda RX8 and between the seats there is a place to connect your iPod to play music through the radio/charge. Unfortunately, I don't have an iPhone but I've got a Samsung Galaxy S3 which uses micro-usb connectivity. As the system already exists is it possible to just take the wire out that works for iPod and replace it with one for android phones (micro-usb) Thanks guys Dave |
Highly doubtful.
The first step is to find out which integration module you have exactly. Spend a few minutes to disassemble the front half of the center console and remove the ash tray. Look for the module itself....or just see what you can find. A video walkthough for headunit removal in located in the sticky. That should get you plenty far. |

coming from a guy who uses adapters on top of adapters on top of adapters to get the desired result. Thanks so much mate! |
Converters certainly exist. But that's entirely different from allowing streaming audio via the micro USB. My guess is that your phone will charge with the adapter, but that's it.
PS. You can get the adapter for like 2 bucks online. Don't blow $30+ at the Apple store. |
