Strange popping/feedback in Basslink. Ideas?

I apologize in advance for the attempts to "type out" sound effects in this thread. :)

I moved my Infinity Basslink from my Miata to my 8, professionally installed with proper wiring and line out converter. (BOSE system)

Just before moving it, it developed a strange habit: When I started the car, it would emit a very loud BOOM, usually twice, several seconds after I put the car in gear and pulled off. If I just let it idle then it did nothing. Oftentimes, the second boom was followed by a sound like a cartoon bomb falling. (You know, "WOOOoooo....", high pitched but descending....) It sounds like a turn-on "thump", but it refuses to do it until I move the car. Once it happens two or three times, it won't happen ever again as long as the car is running. But as soon as I cycle the key.....

I know this is a crazy explanation, and tough to "imagine" the sound. I thought it was just a loose wire, but since I was moving it to the 8 soon, and bought all new wiring, I didn't give it a thought.

After having it installed in the 8, I started the car, and there it was: "BOOM! BOOOOOoooooo..... POP!" Logic tells me that if the wiring is all new, the problem exists IN the Basslink, but it's such bizzare behavior (and I know so little about car audio) that it baffles me. Heck, sometimes it even produces a steady, high pitched, "Oooooooooooo". If I turn my AC up to full, or blip the throttle, it pops and goes away. WTF?!

Thanks for reading all this crap, hopefully someone out there has an idea. Loose RCA conection inside the box? Bad capacitor inside the box? It was fine for two years, now this. I don't know......:(

No ideas, eh? Well, I looked inside the trunk today while the popping was happening, and I noticed a small green light that says, "SERVO" would light up when it thumped. Could someone who is knowlegable about amps clue me in on this one? Should that light always be on, or is it indicative of a malfunction?

Thanks.

I would check to make sure the RCA cables/connections are intact.

Tony,
HAve you tried calling Infinity about this issue? Let me ask you. How does it sound on the 8. I was thinking of getting the same baselink due to the trunk space it requires but wanted to hear from someone that already has it installed. I am looking to enhance the base of the Bose system without overpowering the Bose sound. Let me know.

according to the manual, the servo light should light up with in time with the bass thump, so nothing wrong with that.

I had something very similar happen with a previous car. It was a conflict in impedances between the head unit and the amp, so the guy at the audio shop said. They swapped out my Kenwood deck for an Alpine and the problem vanished. So there might be some truth in what the said.
