split RCA input of a 2-chan amp?
 

Ok.. just wanted to know if this is can be done.. i am planning on getting a 2-chan amp to power a 10 inch sub. i'm planning on bridging the amp... but anywho..I've read from some people here that i should tap into the back speakers to get a signal for the sub. But the downfall would be is if i ever fade the music just to the front, i would lose the sub becuase there woudln't be any signal in the back anymore to relay to the sub.

ok.. so here is my question..what if i use a Y spliter and split tihe RCA inputs going into the amp.. so that way..if i do decide to fade just to the front, i'll still have some bass....I can put a line level converter and tap from all 4 speakrs ( front left, front right, back left, back right). what do you guys think? will it work? Thanks!

just tap pre-amp (bose system amp) making sure to use a decent differential LOC (if your sub amp has one great but it is most likely not differntial)

or you could just tap the front speakers (which is recomended anyhow, if you tap the preamp for the front speakers that is the best of all though :))

also if you have a decent internal low pass crossover for the sub amp you can use that especially if the power isn't crazy...otherwise get a new active crossover

forget the crazy Y adapter idea although I have to hand it to you, very creative :)

hmmm.. so with the setup you suggest... if i do tap into the pre-amp front speakers, id' lose the sub if i fade to the back right? I guess my main concern is that i dont want to lose my sub if i fade the sound either front or back.. i sorta always wanna have my sub working. I know i can get a 4-ch amp and just bridge 2 chan's of it to power the sub and the other 2 chans can power either the fronts or the backs... but i'm interested in using a ( smaller ) 2-chan amp becuase of spacing issues.
