Soundstream T4-15 in an 8

Hey guys, this is my first post and thread (wow, how convenient). I've had my RX-8 now for about two weeks. Before the 8, I had a 1993 Honda civic. In the civic I put a Soundstream T4-15 powered by the Soundstream Picasso 1500D. I saved them from my trade in to the Mazda Dealership (they doubled a $3000 trade in, so they basically gave me $6000 for it) On Monday I'm having them installed into my 8. Its gunna be awesome. I was wondering, has anyone else has put a 15 into their 8? If so, I'd like to see those setups. I'll try to post a pic of mine when it's done.

no 15 here, I do have that amp pushing 2 Soundstream DVC Van Gogh 10's and it is louder and cleaner than any system I have ever had, (including one with 4 12's and all Phoenix gold stuff)) which is entirely shocking since I left the factory Bose in place for my highs. That amp should push the buhjeezus out of that sub, any reason why you went with a 15 ?

I love the lows you can get with 15's. And yes the amp can push the hell outta the sub. I only had it hooked up at 2 Ohm and it was easily pushin' 150 db. I never had it tested though. It was even louder at 1/2 Ohm, but the sub was gettin hot...

Dont Worry. You'll have pictures as soon as its done. I should have my car back Wednesday night, so prolly by the end of the week I'll have pics.

Speaking of pics, has anyone else put a 15 in their rx-8?

Like I said, I never measured it. But the guy who built the box for me had two square 15's that were measured at about 147db, and he said that my one 15 was as loud or louder than his two.

I promised Pics, so here they are:

What do you think?

Sorry about the last one being blurry, long exposure because of no flash and I couldnt keep still.

Nice setup!

I don't currently have anything aftermarket in my 8, but I used to have a pair of 15's that I moved between a couple of past cars. I really do love the ultra-deep, powerful tones you can only get with a larger displacement speaker. Wish I could hear it!

I found out that the guy who did the custom work is rated one of the top 100 installers in the US. It sounds wonderfully deep. I'm going to a carshow on Sunday and they are supposed to have a sound competition. We'll see how it does. and how my car does.

dannnnnggg that box is huge! You're probably moving stuff in the earth's crust with those frequencies Looks cool, nice and clean You might want to consider doing something with your decklid to match, made a huge difference in mine appearance wise, kinda' finished everything off I guess.

Yeah, the next couple of earthquakes 'round the world are probably gunna be a result of this sub. Thanks, I'll look into doing something to the deck lid. Can you post a pic of what you did?

What did you do to your highs to keep up with this 15?

That's more than a little ridiculous. Is that sustained volume or just a pulse?

um, actually, after having it tested at a competition, I only pushed 135.6 db, but i think thats a problem from going through the tiny *** passthrough to reach the mic that was suctioncupped to the windshield. that 135.6 was a sustained because i used a test tone of (IIRC) 38 to 43 hz.
