SOLUTION - RX8 Radio Reset Code
For anyone that has had problems with getting either the "code" or "Err" messages on the radio.
I tried looking everywhere for this and found either people denying this happens or, take it back to the dealer. Well, I am not one to fork out money when all you need is a 4 digit code!! So, if you get "Code", then press Auto-M/Tune and 6 together, and enter the set code, then press Auto-M and 6 together. If you dont know this, enter a wrong one three times and you get "Err". Once you have "Err", press these buttons in order. 6, AM, Auto-M/Tune, Seek+ You then get a code prompt again. Enter 3511 and press and hold Auto-M, whilst doing that press 6 . You should get "GOOD", and it will fire up. It took me a while to find a code that worked. There may be others that work for different models/years. I think 4989 works for Mazda6 and 1515 for MX-5, try those if no luck with the above. And please post below if you find another that does work!! So far the codes I have found for Mazda are: 4989, 1414, 3511, 5989, 3211, 2312, 0532, 5011, 0000 I hope this helps and saves some people time and money |
Nice work!

Thanks for posting that about the codes been all over Cyprus no one could help, followed your post to a tee and yes all up and running thanks so much
(code 3511) |
Brilliant post. Tried 3511 and worked first time. Thanks

Tried 3511 and it doesn't work. When you hold auto-m and press 6, do you have to hold them both for a certain time. No message comes up, it just goes straight back to Err.

Worked like a charm :D
I fitted a new battery, forgot I had set a code (I actually remembered my code after I'd locked-out), but for some reason it wouldn't take the correct code after [6, AM, Auto-M/Tune, Seek+] Tried 3511 and Boom ! Thank you so much. |
Ok ...after almost 2 hrs of dicking around ...I finally got this to work .
Why it took so long is that the instructions are not precise enough plus one of them was wrong for my RHD car . Firstly ...you don't press Auto-M/tune and 6 together .... You press auto-m/tune holding it down ,then 6 within one second (holding it down) then hold both of them down till you get ---- come up . You then enter any number three times per above. When you have err flashing : You enter 6, AM, Auto-M/Tune, Scan+ .................................NOT 6, AM, Auto-M/Tune, Seek+ then 3511 then You press auto-m/tune holding it down ,then 6 within one second (holding it down) then hold both of them down till you get 'good' come up So above did work kinda , but better instructions could have saved me a heap of time and aggravation ! |
