Shock sensor w/ Diode for '06?
 

So far, all the treads for the OEM shock sensor upgrade are for without the weird brown diode. I installed mine today, and the red LED blinks when I move the black sensor box, but the alarm does not sound when I pound on the windshield? Can anyone who has installed this WITH the brown diodes post some pics on exactly what blue/red wire , what black/yellow, and brown wire to cut?

I tapped into the blue/red & black/yellow on the grey 14-pin connector and there was only one solid brown wire and that was conncedted to the big-ass centered connector in the middle. Am I all hosed?

Please help?

I'll go see if I can find my instructions, I actually looked at those wires off and on again for about 4 friggin hours before I said "Well, if it doesn't work, I'll take it out and splice them back together", I remember one was really difficult to determine if it was right or wrong. I never did 100% satisfy myself before I tapped/cut into the one wire. I'll write back if I find the instructions or remember......it's too freaking dark out now to go look.

If you need the instructions I found them I can take pics, but not until tomorrow night at the earliest, so let me pose the following questions:


Don't know your skill level so bear with me, I'm trying to help you out.

I know you're may not be sure you have the right wires, but those wire taps can be a pain. Are you sure that the wires are clamped tight? You sure that they are making contact?

The brown wire you are after runs from the 14 pin connector where the blue/red and yellow/black wire were found. This is WAY up high, so find that brown wire in that same 14 pin connector and make sure it goes from that 14 pin connector to down to the 24 pin connector(which is much closer to the footwells). That's the brown wire you want and you will cut it.
I believe this is the one that I wouldn't cut for the longest time as I couldn't convince myself that it was the right one.

In terms of the diode, take the brown wire(the side with the label) from the diode and connect it to the brown wire you just cut, but make sure it's to the wire coming out of the high up 14 pin connector.
The other side of the diode, which should have a shorter(wire) on it connects to the brown wire leading to the 24 pin connector.
If you put this diode in backwards, you could blow it up and that wouldn't be good!

Having said all that, You do know that the box(as you call it) has a little knob that adjusts the sensitivity right?
They pre-set it to hardly go off at all, so turn it all the way one way, take the key out of the ignition, close all doors, hood and trunk, set the alarm with the remote(make sure your horn sounds), and then thump the windshield. If nothing, then turn that knob all the way the other way and repeat. If it's installed right and not blown up you'll be able to set it off pretty easily with the knob all the way one way or the other. You won't have to thump it hardly at all.
Of course once you get it working, then do the tennis ball drop from three feet. That should just about be where you want it to trigger.
Any lower = No
Any Higher = Yes
