Series I and putting in Series II Steering Wheel and Radio

Hey All,

I had this idea the other day while driving that maybe I could put a Series II steering wheel and radio in my 2007 Series I 8.

I have always like the SII steering wheels better and I have wanted to put bluetooth in my car for a long time. This option tackles both.

My question for anyone on here is, how difficult would it be to do this? I am an excellent learner and have circuits background in college. I have learned and done tons of things to my 8 without a hitch, yet (knock on wood). I am just concerned about the compatibility with the wiring.

I know it definitely wouldn't be cost effective to do this basically for the bluetooth, but I would be doing it mainly for the SII steering wheel.

Second question is where to buy these items and how much they would be.

Oh, and just for kicks if anyone has an awesome, stand alone bluetooth option, feel free to chime in.

Thanks guys!

radio will not work. Runs on a canbus vs the S1 radio that runs on the SPI bus. Bluetooth module and XM module also are on the canbus. Not to mention you would need to change up your entire center dash to get a S2 radio to fit.

Moving this to Audio. DIY is if you had a set of instructions on how to do this.

Interesting...I figured the radios would at the very least be the same size and shape. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. It was just a thought that I wanted to look into.

Also, sorry about putting this in the wrong place, didn't know there was an audio forum. I'll look harder next time.
