Sand!
I made the mistake of letting three teenagers in my car after a day at the Indiana Dunes.
Sand is ground into all the carpets. It's horrible. My hand vacuum has no chance of getting it out. There are little twigs and leaves down there too that might as well be glued down. How do I get this crap out? It's not the foot carpets, its the base carpet, under the footmats. Thanks! |
The vacs at the car wash and some gas stations are a lot more powerful than a hand vac. That is the place to go to.

Shampoo machine with vacuum dry
|
car wash / gas station vacuums could help. bring a full roll of quarters
|
Use a hand held corn broom. Vaccum brush vaccum.
|
falken, were you one of the 3 teenagers in the car? :lol2:
|
next time, flip the floor mats upside down, easier to vaccuum off the rubber side
|
I knew you were a flip flop guy....

I had the same issue a few weeks ago...
The sands of lake Erie are. . . different. Not really sand... its like, dirt crossed with velcro. Anyway, I did all of these, in this order. 1. Dust Buster (no dice) 2. Floor Vac with attachment (worked a little) 3. Car wash vac (better, but still brown showing on the black rug) 4. I had the rear seats out anyway which takes like 5 minutes to get the bottoms out... Then used a scrub brush and water and a wet/dry vac. That seemed to do the trick. It helps to pull up some of the carpet to "flex" some of the dirt out of the fiber. and, lastly... what did you learn about sand ? Yea, make someone else drive to the beach. |
