RX8 04 Factory Radio? Bose or Base?

I have on 04 and wanted very much to get rid of the awful Valor radio that's in it and go back to a factory one. This radio was in it when I got the car and there's a whining noise when I drive, I also had a Pioneer installed a few months ago but it was even worse, the sound would come out distorted badly when I'd drive until I got it into 5th gear.

So I thought if I put a factory radio back in I wouldn't have this problem but I've been looking online and I don't know if I'm supposed to get a base or bose system?

I don't know what type of wiring/speakers I have in the car now?

The radios look the same and don't say Bose on them but what type do I need?

Look for the Bose amp. Open trunk. Stick head in. Look up towards the RR speaker. Should be a silver colored amp roughly 8"x12" with harnesses plugged in.

Though I'd really just try to figure out what's going on with the aftermarket stuff. The factory radio sucks.

I did just that and seen the Bose imprint on the amp, thank you! So I just picked up a nice factory unit on Ebay from an 04 that had 40k on it hopefully it will be problem free.

I wonder if the Bose amp had anything to do with the poor sound quality from the last 2 after market radios?

As for the whining issue if it persists with the factory headunit you may have to check the wiring. Its a common problem with diy radio installs where a wire is placed somewhere it shouldnt and picks up interferance from the engine wiring or the alternator.
