here.. again.. i will say..

The Icelink unit is 2 parts.. 1 the PIE aux input box. 2 the Dension Ice link cable.
Thats all it is... Now the PIE box needs 9.55 or higher to work.. but as for text on the screen... 1. Make sure you are pushing the Text button !! .. Also are you using the MAZ/ALP PIE box.. or somthing else inbetween the icelink cable and the HU ?

And yes.. Denision recomends Firmware 9.67 or higher .

I have pushed the test button, but still no text. I am using the icelink plus with the box between the icelink and HU. I don't know of anyone else getting text on the HU. I only get EX2: track number and time.

That's what I thought, trawling through the various threads, but I thought I would ask the specific question to check.

Ok I know this is an old thread but does anyone know if the RX8 has a specific Icelink for it or are we using the Volks Wagon or honda version for our cars. I was just in best buy and they have everything but the RX8 version, it's that or 300.00 bucks on a monster setup.

thanks

I just installed my IceLink Plus, and everything seems to be working, except I hear a faint buzzing sound when switching tracks. It's not too bad, because the music mostly drowns out the noise. However, I wish I could stop it. Does anyone else have this problem?

I made sure that all of my connections are solid, and I moved the IceLink to different positions to see if that made a difference. Nothing helped. I think I'll just have to live with it.

For those of you with the IceLink Plus, what voltage setting did you choose for the audio output?

I called Dension and they advised me that they weren't making anymore RX8 icelinks due to some problems that they were sorting out. It will be 2 months before we see them again.

If anyone has heard different or knows where to get the icelink or any available direct connect please let us know!

NO! You can not display text unless you use the mp3/cd player that comes with the RX8. No aftermarket product as of yet can do this. The aftermarket products use the CD or Tape inputs to the RX8's HU. Neither of these inputs are capable of text.

Monster Cable is coming out with a unit that has its own display but it isn't out yet and probably won't be for at least 9 months.

I actually saw the Monster Cable display in Best Buy last week when I picked up the Monster Cable for the Ipod, which plays the music but sux royaly.

I don't know if it's the same display that your talking about but it was expensive I forget how much definately over 100.00.

Oh and I called Monster Cable they said "we're not making it" when I asked if they were coming out with a solution for the RX8.

The rep who said that should be fired! You don't say it that way to the customer, at least lie to me and let me get my hopes up for a couple of months, then lead me on some more, I mean come on now!

www.mp3yourcar.com has the units for the RX-8 available- the Neo Ion SP (which is the Neo base unit and the Dension Ice Link Plus together) . I just ordered and received mine last week. The install is quick and easy if you know what you are doing and there are directions provided by the company or in the DIY here that can help you out if you don't. This unit also has built in RCA inputs in addition to the dension IceLink plus interface for the ipod. (Note they only had the cradle connections when I ordered last week)

The sound from this is great, puts the FM transmitters to shame, and using the 4V signal selection actually comes through with better sound quality than the CD player in my opinion.

Monster cable is definetly expensive. The base unit for the ipod is $300 when ever it actually becomes available and the text display is an extra $150. I don't think the unit will fly considering the price.

for that price you could build a tiny...inexpensive computer and have it play mp3 and have a nice screen mounted....using the ipod as an external drive...or even the entire operating system

I also ordered a Neo iOn from mp3yourcar.com and just received it yesterday. I'll install it today. I had to drive to Dallas (from Austin) for a conference, and it sucked having to use the iTrip, which I had to keep adjusting during the drive.

It would work but you would have to remove the 6 disk changer to do it. It plugs into the same plug as the changer. The aux in that plugs into the tape player would work so you can have an ipod and a 6 disk changer.

Kachud,

I have the changer and it works. You still have the ability to use your changer. The NEO connects to the other port on the HU (closer to the driver side).

How are you controlling your ipod? I have the NEO Icelink plus and it plugs into the cd changer port. I access the ipod via the cd changer controls i.e. ex1 ex2 ect.

You can control both with those controls. When you hit CD the first time it will have the CD source, the second time will bring you to the EX source (for the ipod). You just hit the CD button to cycle between the two sources. EX1, EX2 etc... are just accessed by changing the "disc" when you are in the EX mode.

On another note, has anyone gotten the RCA inputs on the Neo Ion SP working. My ipod works fine through the icelink system, but the RCA inputs don't seem to be working. Any suggestions from anyone who has this working?
