Will these speakers fit?
It looks like the rear do but I am unsure about the fronts. Infinity Kappa 692.5i 6"x9" 2-way car speakers for the rear http://www.crutchfield.com/S-xZksSiC...asp?I=1086925I Rockford Fosgate Punch P1682S 6"x8" component speaker system for the front http://www.crutchfield.com/S-xZksSiC...sp?I=575P1682S Thanks for any info or comments here.... |
replacement?

Yeah....
After 30 years in Belgium and 9 in the US, still screw up.... |
They will fit - for the front, you may want to look at the Infinity Reference 6800cs. They are cheaper than the Rockford set and appear to have somewhat better parameters as far as sensitivity and frequency response go - however I have not tested either one of these sets so I don't know which one sounds better.
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-RslhYKs...sp?i=1086800CS Oh, and I think it is needless to say: although Crutchfield has excellent service, price-wise you are usually better off if you search around to buy your stereo stuff :) |

uh oh---BOSE :o You may have some compatibility issues. Hopefully someone that has changed out BOSE speakers can chime in--in all my past cars that have had BOSE--replacing the speakers required rewiring the whole system.

the bose up front are 9". Hence no drop in replacements. I had to make some brackets out of plexi glass to fit my 6.5". Good luck, can be done, but just with a bit of elbow grease.

I have the Bose.... The Bose is a different story. The rear size is 6x9 but they have a different impedance than usual aftermarket speakers. I forgot exactly what, but I think they are 2 Ohms or so. If you put in the 6x9 aftermarket speakers, they will work but you might lose some volume, depending on the efficiency of the new speakers. Also, the rear Bose speakers have separate tweeters as well (so they are essentially component speakers). The front 6x8 is only for the base stereo and a direct drop-in, with no compatibility problems. With the Bose, you have a shallow 9" midbass driver in the door, and it has some 0.5 Ohm impedance. You won't find a drop-in speaker for that one. If you want to replace it, you'll need an adapter plate and you'll face the same (or worse) compatibility issues like with the rear speakers. |

Excellent explanation Tamas. I have the Bose system and I replace the rear 6x9s with a pair of Infinity 693.5i. The stock speakers have to have a low efficiency, my guess is about 87 dB, I say this because my new speakers are 90db abd they play the same volume as the stock speakers. Every 3db speaker output is doubled for the same amount of power. Did that make any sense?
