Remote entry question

I just picked up a very slightly used 2004 RX8 and figured it would come with a remote entry "clicker," but it didn't. Don't all of these cars have one or is this something that is an option only? I have the touring package and when I open the doors or lock the car, the lights flash a couple times. I don't know where the receiver for the remote entry would be located or I could search for it and verify if the car has remote entry or not.

If it does, I guess I can get one off of Ebay and program it... ??

I can buy a couple off of Ebay for like 7 bucks each, I think for that price I'll just get some and try it. Can anybody tell me if all RX8's come with the remote entry or is it only on certain packages?

I have never seen a Rx8 without keyless entry.

Once you aquire two we can discuss the programming

Did you buy the car from a dealer, or a private seller? I'd be cautious if you bought from a private seller. He/she could possibly have kept the fob (clicker) to gain entry to the car later on....As far as I know, all these cars come with two of the fobs. They have to be somewhere....

Once the new fobs are programmed

The old ones are disbled

I ran into this with a used truck I bought. The dealer claimed it didn't have it but when I discovered it did later on I went and told them. They programmed 2 of them and tried to charge me for them. I raised hell and the next day the manager called me and told me they were in the mail. The dealer owes you those fobs.

Excellent, I didn't know that. Gives me another question, though. Are the fobs in any way related to the chip in the keys? Or is that a totally different ballgame.

Ballgame...humm Boston up 6-0

The Pats key and fob are two different systems

Well here is the deal on the car. I bought it "new" but it was sitting at a dealership in Florida when the hurricanes came through. It has wind damage, meaning something fell on the hood and smashed it all to hell. That's why I bought the new hood. Other than that, just rock chips and stuff in the paint and that will all be fixed and will be better than new when it's done. I saved about $12,000 off sticker price because of this damage. I bought it locally from a used car dealer, he bought this car and many others at a car auction to resell. He said he was sure it had a fob but he didn't get one, although he did have three keys. I just bought two new ones off of Ebay for real cheap so it's not a big deal. For the price I paid for this car, I am not going to complain about anything.

I've looked up the directions on how to program them and it seems easy enough. If I have any problems I'll definitely post up here and ask.

Oh and if someone did hold on to them to steal the car later, I'm about 20 hours away from where the car came from, so good luck finding me. lol I live in the middle of nowhere.

The programming really does disable the old ones.

And I also live in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah but I've actually heard of Pikeville, I bet you haven't heard of Lakeview. lol
