Questions Regarding Wiring/Wattage
 

Hello everyone, I had a few questions regarding the way the speakers in my series1(bose) are wired as well as the wattage that can safely be supplied via factory wiring. My plan is to replace the headunit and rear amp, as well as all of the speakers except the front center. I'm planning on using a 4 channel amp by splicing into the inputs of the bose amp, then running the output through the bose amp output wiring to the speakers. For the front doors, I'd like to splice in before the in-door amp and use this adapter as well as some Infinity Kappa 62.11i speakers. My question is, will that work all using factory wiring, or is it too much power to run through the factory wiring? Also the Head Unit does send the front speaker signal through the rear amp right?

Some more info on the speakers:

The Kappa's claim to have a mounting depth of 2-1/8", and a total depth of 2-15/16" So they should fit in the front especially with those adapters/spacers right. Also they have an RMS of 75watt, and an extremely high peak power of 225W. Can that be ran through factory wiring?

You didn't say how many watt amp you plan on wiring in. I wouldn't rely on using any of the factory wiring, as the Bose system is pretty complex from what I could tell messing with mine.

I'm probably just going to use the factory wiring, before I hook it up I'll find the diameter and determine the gauge just to be safe. Thanks though

Now I just have to determine how much I want to replace :/. I'm thinking a jbl club704 amp for my 4 speakers and I'll have to figure out what to do with all the tweeters. Also still wondering if I'll need an amp, considering I'm getting some pretty powerful Kappa speakers.

Speakers have 0 watts if they're not powered. You need some kind of amp. The speakers wattage ratings are the maximums they will take, not what they produce.

I added a 12" infinity reference and 400watt amp to my trunk, used the factory Bose for everything else. Sounds great, and a lot less work than what you're planning. Unless you've got blown speakers, it may be worth seeing what you can use from the factory.

Really? I'd heard that just getting a sub and a new HU makes a huge difference so I might try that first. I'm thinking about getting a prefab compR box with a kicker 1200 amp. Can't remember if kx or CX.

A new HU will definitely make a difference. The Metra kit makes it pretty easy to install and looks clean. The only issue I had with it was finding places to run all the wires and put the axcess box. I know with the base radio everything wired in pretty straight forward. I got the Pioneer AVH-4100NEX which gives me 14 watts RMS to each speaker which actually made a huge difference. With the bose radio you're biggest improvements will likely come from a cleaner signal out of the HU and the use of a good equalizer. If you do go the route of just a sub I would recommend going with much higher quality subs, something from Sundown Audio, or even Skar audio, are really high quality stuff and offer subs for any price range. I would also recommend down4soundshop.com to get stuff from. the owner there, Jonathan Price, is a really great guy and really knows what he's talking about when it comes to audio equipment. When it comes to the wiring, its always recommended to use higher quality wiring to match with the better speakers, if you are not too worried about going back in the car, you could most try out the current wiring and see how that works for you and if it doesn't work out you could just go back through and change it.
