Problem not found.
Hello all,
Recently I got a new headunit and metra kit and I've been experiencing massive issues. Here's the case: I used to have a pair of RCA cables connected to a LOC(for my subs), but since I now have a headunit, I use the ones in the back of that. However, when I have the headunit and subs connected, the subs run on a verrrryyyy low level. When I plug them back into the LOC, they work fine. While it may not make a huge difference, I bought my headunit so I could control my subs. So I sent it back to have it looked at and apparently nothing is wrong... I just got it back today and when I tried it, same problem. MY theory: Since I'm running on the Metra kit and it has a built in bose adaptor, it is making the output level of the headunit high like the speakers resulting in low powered subs. But what do I know? Any ideas? OH! and I'm running these: Alpine IDA-X303(HU) 2 Alpine Type R(Subs) Hifonics 1606D(Amp) |
Have you checked the settings on the amp?
|
Check your amp gains as well as your crossover settings on the HU. The HU might even have a seperate sub level control you need to turn up. Tell us what you find.
|
I turned the HU's "sub control=ON" and "sub level=+15"... It was still weak so while a song was playing, I turned my gain steadily all the way up... Still crap compared to my LOC... :/

Which LOC u got? if u want to sell it let me know

Provided all settings on the headunit are correct...
My guess is that the LOC you were using was cranked and now you're simply using weak 2V low-level outputs looking for the same results. Solution is to by a different headunit with 4V or better. Sorry. :( |
I'm not sure... The LOC was just something my step dad picked up on the way home back when I installed my subs... We never messed with any settings on it or anything... Come to think of it, I can't even remember there being any settings to mess with.
The headunit I'm using is an alpine IDA X303... And if this level of power is "normal"... then I feel bad for all of you less fortunate sub people. Haha. Something is definitely wrong here. |
Okay I think I'm going to exchange my headunit for an Alpine cda 9886... Would this solve the low voltage issue? It kinda just all around looks BETTER.
BTW Merry Christmas! |
