Planning on installing racing seats...headroom dilemma.

Sup guys,

This past summer I discovered that my helmet is too big and I need to adjust to an uncomfortable driving position to make it work (sunroof). The solution I came to is racing seats. Are there any guys that had the same issue and remedied this with the addition of a racing seat? I'm about 5'9"

Thanks,

Jeff

You're 5'9" and your helmet doesn't give clearance?

Um... have you tried adjusting your seat so that it sits lower? They can do that you know...

But seriously, racing seats is a good idea. Helps keep you centralized in your seat, plus they look rad.

There are people who have had this problem and helped remedy it with 2 parts.

1. low profile racing seats.
2. Custom side mounting brackets. The ones you can buy even the 'low profile" one don't quite cut it.

Unfortunately TeamRx8 (one of the people who has done this) hasn't posted his mount diagrams or anything yet. (I need to pester him with a PM)

Good luck as I also have this problem and I already have to duck for bumps and such in the stock seat.

I'm 5'11" ish, but as has been noting in some of the other threads about covering this it's not your total height that matters it you it's leg vs torso vs arm height/length that causes the problem.

I'm 5'9" and my seat is all the way low. I bump my helmet into the roof. I have a sunroof though, so that doesn't really help things...

1. low profile racing seats.

Would something like this be considered as low profile.

Very expensive I know...just using the picture as a reference. I can't afford 1500 a seat!

Heh. I'm about 6'2" and my head clears the roof with sunroof by about the thickness of my hand minus helmet. I drive from a fairly relaxed position (note: not the gangsta lean some guys drive with). I do wish I could move the seat back another 2 inches to straighten out my legs more (and then bring the back of the seat more upright). I like the stock seats though for non-racing applications.

I'm pretty sure I'd be highly uncomfortable trying to drive with a helmet.

I am 1.85cm and i have bride carbon kevlar gias...enough space for the head, helmets for track etc etc...They are very low but could have them lower...Expensive though..
