hello everyone,

I just got this as a present for christmas, and i got everything working perfectly.
heat/wheel control etc... except i'm having issues when i try to open the dvd player to insert a cd/dvd or a sd card... the fitment is a bit tight, not by much if i push on the kit from the bottom, the dvd opens up no problem.

I was thinking taking a heatgun and try to expand it just a hair so it doesnt rub. does that sound like a good idea or is there something else i could do??

can you move the HU out a fraction so it doesnt rub?

if there is an outer trim piece take it off, if not take a dremel to it but be careful!!! I also have one but I just have a single din :-/ I want to upgrade already!

Oh yea I highly advise you NOT to use a heat gun it will warp like crazy not a very safe method for fitment modification for something that's plastic, I once tried to fix a plastic from a juicer that I stuck in the dish washer and developed a heat bubble I tried to sink and end up cutting it out long story short had to get a new guide piece. here is some info on plastic and it's melting points. http://www.goedjn.com/essays/botplas.html (Dec. 2005) retrieved 12:46 am Dec. 27,2011 www.goedjn.com/essays/index.html -APA formated to cover my ass-

thank you all for the replies, good thing i didn't go with the heat gun idea.

It does have an outer trim, which i did not think of removing. i will try that thanks comebackqid.

if not i guess dremel it is. i will keep you guys posted. I would have done it at work today, but like an idiot i must have left the lights on in the car last night when i was messing around with it and of course it wouldnt start this morning when it was ~20 degrees outside.. go figure

DAmn that sucks, did you get a jump? and NP on the help anytime.

if you look at my fs thread of my car you can see my HU. it is a perfect fit but couldnt clear the bottom when sliding out to insert or remove a disc. so i took a file and slowly but surely shaved down just enough for it to slide open and close. looks and works like magic. hope this helps
