There's a tried and tested procedure for installing your model of radio in the RX-8:

1. Measure the height and width of your radio with a blue ruler (it must be blue).

2. Using a sharp pencil, draw a rectangle the same height and width of the radio anywhere on the dashboard of the RX-8.

3. With a power saw, cut the rectangle so there's a hole.

4. If you find any items in the hole (wires, tubes or whatever) pull them out and trash them: there's all kinds of stuff back there that quite frankly isn't needed so you won't miss it.

5. Push your radio into the new hole (don't worry about connecting it to any stupid batteries, speakers or aerials because that really won't help matters now).

6. Seal the edges of the hole with that stuff plumbers use on baths.

7. Admire your new radio!

Hope this helps.

Caulking is the word you're looking for. Just trying to be helpful.

Bah.. I put one in last week and it was only two steps

1. With a 5lb hammer punch a hole in the dash (pilot hole).

2. Place the radio over the hole and hammer it in..

All done and it looks trick.
