New theory on front tweeter placement

It's been mentioned the front BOSE tweeter is highly directional and isn't pointed towards the nearest seat. What if it was actually aimed across the cabin to the other seat? That would explain the wierd mounting angle. Just a thought.

Hopefully an aftermarket company will produce a replacement trim piece with an angled bulge for more traditional tweeter placement.

In some SQ setups it's considered to sound better to angle the tweaters to reflect the sound off the windscreen/windshield. The result is that it gives a very good stage, as if the sound is coming from the centre of the dash. It also removes any harshness from the tweeters that would normally be apparent when directed straight at the passenger.

The sound DOES come from the center of the dash - especially due to the center speaker. That's what I DON'T like about it.

The treets are actually angled VERY strangely. I took them off and apart and even though both treet's grill appears to aim to a point about 6" in front of the head unit (why??), <just put your head behgind and to the right of the steering wheel - basically in front of the head unit> there is a plastic mounting flange BEHIND that grill that holds the tweet AWAY from the grill by about an inch, and EVEN FURTHER points the tweeter INTO THE DASH, to a point BEHIND the head unit virtually!

One can only guess what ta hell is going on in some Bose engineers mind, but if they think high frequency sound dispersion off from the dash makes their unit sound better... then IMHO they are in need of serious professional help me thinks!

The tweeters are definately NOT angled towards any seating positions. In fact they actualy point down and forward. IE into the dash / foot wells as mentioned above. Also a high quality tweeter won't be harsh at all on axis. Harshness usualy a symtom of high frequency peaks which are actualy quite common on metal tweeters. I've yet to take a measurement of the Bose tweeter, but I'd expect it to likely fall off on the high end without high frequency peaking durring breakup. I belive, a better plastic piece that provided direct tweeter aiming could have definately improved the sound.
