New Speaker - Bazooka

1 Attachment(s)
well, i had plans of doing a custom enclosure with one 12" or something to that effect....but i wound up getting an 8" bazooka tube for FREE, and you cant beat free!!

so i got it installed yesterday and i must say i am pleasantly surprised! it gives a little more kick than i thought. the gusy at the install shop said the same thing, sounded better than they expected it would. i guess the small trunk helps that.

anyway...one shot just to show what i am talking about...ntohing impressive but a great addition to the Bose system.

How are you powering it? I have a bigger one in my SUV, but I thought it was a bit too boomy. But it kicks like heck! I may end up going with a smaller one like yous in the 8. What is the rest of your set-up like?

wow
they still make those?

its self powered...amp is built in...another aspect i liked so it takes up that much less room in the already very tight trunk. if i had been choosing what i got it would have been at least a 10" speaker of some sort or another (probably a JL Audio W7 and 1000W amp)...but when i got this free, had to go with it.

as for still making?? not sure...this was in a friends closet wheni helped him move...no clue how old it is.

yeah, bazooka still makes them and now you can get ones for AC power. I got a 5.25 inch, 30 watt one for $20 or $30 and for the price it puts out good sound, but as you would expect it's not great sound quality and the bass isn't that tight(it's ported so thats kinda what i expected). It's a temp sub until I can get a good 5 or 6 .1 system.

Regarding Pinhy's Bazooka installation, I too have installed an 8" Bazooka in my trunk, very similar to the photo above except I hung it from the structure in the top of the trunk to preserve floor space in the trunk. I can hear lots of strong firm bass with the trunk open, but am unfortunately disappointed with what can be heard from inside the car, especially when driving. There's more bass if I remove the pass-through, but I don't want to leave it open.

As Bazooka recommends, I've installed the grill-end about 3" from the side wall in trunk. I see in your installation you've got it right up against the side wall. Did you try different spacing, and this was the best? Do you leave the pass-through out? Is your Bazooka the 100watt version or the 50W version (mine is 50watt). Any suggestions for me? I typically set the bass at +4. thanks..

I had one for a while in my old '86 base RX-7. They sound pretty good, and I love being able to quickly and easily take it out if I need more room in the trunk. Not to mention I got it as an open-box buy at Circuit City for a steal :).

did you just tap into the rear speaker wires to get signal to the tube?

for i second i thought you got one of the "nitrous" bottle look alike bazooka enclosures...... glad you didnt!!! hahaha. Have you noticed any rattles in the car with the extra base?
