Need advice on map lights

So I tried to remove the 2 screws for the map lights, and found them incredibly difficult to take out. I got the one on the right side out, but after about 20 minutes of trying, I gave up on the left side.

I also realized that I might have stripped the screw a little, as I can no longer apply torque to it. Does anyone know what I can do to get it out? Google results in suggestions such as heat it (torch it), stripped screw remover, superglue a screwdriver to it, and some silly suggestions. However, since this is inside the car, I can't torch it.

Should I use a stripped screw remover and buy a replacement screw from home depot? Or is there a better solution? Thanks for any replies.

I would replace the screw. You need to use the right number screw driver head.

Ok, I'll take a look at my local hardware stores for screw removal kits.

Also either get a decent screw driver set or get a socket driver with numbered screw driver heads. They will save you a lot of aggravation.
