NAV RGBS Plug and Play? (can't cut wires)
 

OK...I desperately want to cut the 4 wires and hookup a hacked XBOX but I just can't kill the warranty on my NAV unit, yet...

So...I know the AVelectronic guys are trying to acquire a plug that will allow them a plug and play switch to sell instead a warranty voiding moddification...but I want to see if we can all come together and use our resources to find this plug

my girlfriend is buying a Mazda 3 in the next week with Nav so maybe we can also harness the power of the Mazda 3 owners since the NAV unit is the same (I'm not sure about the Mazda 6's nav unit)

what is known...the nav unit is made by Panasonic (in Japan Panasonic is called: Matsushita Electric Corporation), I'll add more to this thread as I add in what information I have collected over time.

Besides whoever can find something that would work as a Plug and play option would make LOTS of money (I don't care about the money...I care about the warranty, but atleast that is an incentive for some people on the forum)

Well, Its not so much cutting the wires, as much as where you cut them. If you cut them like two inches from the plug, yes, someone will probably "catch" you and say your warranty is voided. The entire bundle of wires that goes to the NAV unit can be traced for about 3 feet, and then be spliced into like I did mine. When I took my NAV unit in for service, they didnt even notice it. Of course I took out my AVElectronic unit, and retaped the whole bundle of wiires, but if something does go wrong with your NAV unit , they are just going to replace or repair the unit, not go looking at your harnesses or wires unless the connection job is visible and noticable at first glance.

hmm good point...my nav unit is being replaced right now so it probably wont need to be serviced again but I don't want to risk it...

if we can get a plug and play adapter there is a HUGE market for it
