collecting a few more links for 7" tabs.... Whichever one I choose will be broken down and installed in the factory nav housing and must support 3g... really annoyed that this disqualifies the Nexus, but oh well.

The most important dimension is the width. 124mm is wider than the space in the hood allows, I had to cut a slot in the bottom of the hood so that the tablet could fit.
dimensions are 198.5 x 120 x 10.45mm You mentioned the width is important so I think I'm okay there at 120 but the Length at 198 seems like it could be problematic. thoughts? |
no 3G. I'm pretty sure size is fine.

Disqualified because no 3G or size?
I want to do a similar install but I'm trying to use the Galaxy Nexus (especially because there's rumors of a 32gb about to be released) dimensions are 198.5 x 120 x 10.45mm You mentioned the width is important so I think I'm okay there at 120 but the Length at 198 seems like it could be problematic. thoughts? |
I'm finding this new tablet to be very mod friendly (just lacking in published - read English - data) and it's pretty friggin stable. No crashes, reboots, or lock ups of any kind yet -- and I've thrown quite a bit at it at this point.
Here's a video of my custom boot logo(s) and animation: |
This is month old news, but it has me excited. 3G Nexus 7 could be coming in 'around six weeks' | The Verge
The FeeLander tablet is certainly usable but it's got some limitations (read bugs) a2dp/avrcp wise that are bugging the crap out of me. I would love to have an experience device with 3G. At least then I'd be 100% mainstream. |
I'm still trying to get this to work on my phone (Samsung S3) and I cannot get it to run, I've tried stripping out of every possible thing I can think of. Can you take a look at my logcat and see if you notice anything I might be missing?
Code:
10-15 22:29:24.739: I/dalvikvm(1543): threadid=3: reacting to signal 3 |
Yup, I encountered that a couple weeks ago and tracked it down to one of my drawables... I believe it was the honeycomb background. I rescaled things by use of density specific layouts and that solved the problem.
First time I ever threw an OOM under Android too.. surprised the heck out of me. I figured it out while trying to get CarHome to run on my Galaxy Nexus. I could've swore I pushed the commit to github. Let me check as it may still only be in my local repo. |
Here's the commit... looks like I did a bit more than just density dependent layouts... you'll notice I also rescaled quite a few images.

I re-Git'd the project, and re-added the library. When I try to run my S3 AVD (4.0.3 W/ WXGA720 screen) I get the same logcat. But when I create a basic 3.2 I can run it fine, except for this warning. Your thoughts?
Code:
[2012-10-15 22:24:12 - Emulator] HAX is not working and emulator runs in emulation mode |
That warning is a platform warning.... if you're still getting an OOM try removing the background.
You'll find it runs fine on the stock 4.0.3 and 4.1 emulators. |

I do have a little bit of experience using the built accelerometer and GPS in android functions, if you have any ideas for them maybe I can help you out a little. PM me and I'll give you all my chat info and we can brainstorm about it. |
I'm about ready to start on deprecating use of libVoyager. I have some OBD2 requirements within another project I maintain and will likely back port my own library into CarHome.

Thread revival!
Have been experimenting with a CD slot mount. Really like the comfort of it being so close... reminder of how nice this would be in a metra type mount. https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1363067753 |
That's legit. I have seen some really nice cup holder mounts as well.

Shell,
What cd mount are you using? I just got a 32BG Nexus 7 yesterday and would like to start messing with this stuff. |
I'll sell it to you for a couple bucks over the cost of shipping. It arrived via the slow boat from China, literally.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281012940832&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:3160#ht_6832wt_1009 I used it for a week or two then went back to the retractible NAV. It was nice, but I had to remove my uber cool machined rotary radio knob to get it to mount reliably. |
Looks like the latest code on GitHub is 7 months old, have you made any other changes since then?
|
Nope.. The obd2 app has been dormant as all my free time has been going to Adaptive Tuner.
There may be some convergence at some point but I don't have a timeline for it. |
I installed a Windows Touch Screen PC setup in my dash... check out my article I wrote on the experience. IntelligentSystem - The Evolution of the Intelligent Car Computer and Touch Screen
|
That's so 6 years ago :)
J/k will check it out when I'm at my desk. |
9k I still have that mount if you want it... Completely forgot about this.

I'm sure it's around here somewhere, in one or more boxes. trick is finding the right ones.

Still have this by chance? I know this is years later... I would buy it today!
But instead of resurrecting a thread with something as minute as a sales deal, I think that this could have been handled via pm. |
