My install (finally finished)
 

After TONS of research on here, lots of experimenting, and 3 days of install, I finally got my car to sound the way I want. Oh and you DO NOT need a LOC if you have bose.

Heres what I used -

JL e4300 amp (for the speakers)
JL e1200 amp (for the sub)
JL 10w1v2-4 (cheap ass sub and sounds awesome)
JL xr650-cxi 6.5" with crossovers
Infiniti 3-way reference 6x9"
Built a ported box to JL specs out of 3/4 mdf
4ga power wire to trunk split to 8ga for each amp
8ga ground wire front each amp to a bolt on the rear seats
some lexan for making the front door adapters (really easy)
6.5inch deep xtc speaker baffles for the front doors
mazda rear cargo tray with carpeted cover
B.quiet sound deadening. I got a 50ft roll but used probably 30ft.



I decided to just use the linelevel input on the e4300 amp and sent preouts from that to the e1200. I have the 1200 on LP and the 3400 on HP, the input sensitivity of the front channels on the e4300 is a bit higher than the rear for balance.

As far as the install, I ended up running all new speaker wire. Something I never want to do again.. Lets just say I was chain smoking by the time I had to do the f'ing molex.
I pulled the front channels off of the oem plug in the front deck and the rear channels off of the plug that goes into the rear bose amp.
The lexan adapters for the front door were fairly easy to make, just make sure to drill pilot holes in the lexan, squeeze some silicone between the lexan and door, and the speaker and lexan as well (or baffle and lexan in my case).

I took the rear seats, backing, and bracing out to fit the box in but it wouldn't fit! Just when I thought I'd have to make a new box I realized it actually fit through the trunk openeing if it was at just the right angle (and i drop kicked it multiple times).


So far nothings lit on fire and I'd have to say the sound is 100 times clearer and waaay louder now. I definatly recomend doing all the speakers if you do a sub, and one 10" is more than enough.. at least if you build a ported enclosure.


Anyways, This is the only crappy pic I have.. and the only one worth taking anyways. Didn't take any install pics and the rest of the car looks stock.

I'll take a real picture later after I figure out some way to clean up the look of the port.

congrats! seems like it takes up a lot of room in the trunk. maybe cover the amplifiers with something to keep it out of harms way.
