Don't know what a boss kit is? Do you mean faceplate?

If you mean the DDIN faceplate then no. Mx-5 is cheap because all it is is the faceplate and a couple of plastic brackets, it isn't like the RX-8 where the HVAC controls are integrated into head unit. Cheapest way to get a new HU into the RX-8 is the Metra kit at approx 150 dollars.

Besides that, they mount differently and the shape is different as well. Attached a pic of the DDIN faceplate in my MX-5 so you can see the shape difference.

I mean the steering wheel adapter that allows us to change to aftermarket steering wheel.

Oh, sorry, just didn't click in my head last night. Afterwork posting prohibited

MX-5 uses the same steering wheel as the 09+ RX-8 if that helps. Other than that, I can't say 1 way or the other if it would work.
