Question MP3 Player Question

Got a question on the MP3 player, hopefully someone may have figured this out.

Is there a way to set "RANDOM" across all the directories on the CD-ROM. For me it only randomizes in "current" directory.

All help greatly appreciated.

Hey guye stupid question by one contemplating the MP3 player. Why do you use multiple directories? Sounds like if you only have one directory, you can use random on all ~100 or so songs on the CD.

I dont use multiple directories.
I just put everything in root and let it random from there.

...

If you use multiple directories the MP3 player acts as if it is a CD changer. Some of my CD's have whole albums on there and I load them into directories so I can listen to them in whole. And it makes it easyer to shuffle through 100+ songs.

ANother question about the MP3 player. Does it replace the "normal" single cd player or get added as another component? I've seen one message that said it replaced the single CD, but if I understood the sales rep, I thought he said it was in addition to the standard CD player

It replaces the single CD Player. The rep is incorrect.

Perhaps the rep meant that it will play MP3's in addition to regular CD's, which is correct.

Yes it is. It plays burned MP3's and/or regular music Compact Disc's.

Yes it is, but it treats each directory as a separate "virtual disk" - the disk up and disk down buttons move between directories, and the repeat function repeats only the tracks in the current directory or "disk", just as the 6-disk changer does.

I like my MP3 because when it does change directories it is a lot faster then a changer changing discs

I dont build directory structures on my MP3 disks. What I do is put the album title in front of the track name, keeping them organized. That way i can listen to every album on a CD as well as individual albums w/o worrying about folders.

when you put in directories and play random, then it plays the root, then the first folder and the next - each song in random.

The debate is pointness as you can order your CD anyway you like.

I have my folder, my wife folder and my baby's folder (for the future... hehe) so when the urge comes for a song then it is easy to find within a smaller folder

Don't know... I guess if it is your car and no one comment on your choice of songs - who cares about directories.

MP3 is very nice. But still one disc is not quite enough. Have to carry 3-4 for a trip.
